New Grower Afghan Kush Ryder & Climax

Thanks for the input guys, I really appreciate it. I guess I am in good company if Admin recommends the aluminum sulfate. I will measure mine and see what it winds up at but 4 grams per gallon sounds pretty close although I like my pH a little lower. I like to keep mine between 5.6-6.0 but I think that has a lot to do with how you feed, in what amounts and is very strain dependent as well. I would be willing to guess that Muddy is not a big sativa grower because most will not be happy at all with a pH over 6.3.

I will have to disagree with the PH statement, Psycho. Too many promix grows around here stating that they use to use close to hydro ph in their promix and have upped it to the range muddy talks about. Shoot him a PM and ask a few questions. He is undoubtedly the promix guru here on AFN. Too many folks have upped their yields and not getting any PH swing late in flower. I would suggest, if you really want to know where your soil ph is at, get an Accurate 8 soil probe and never have to worry about your soil/soilless medium ever again!!! I bought one and love the damn thing! Peace, briman

Day 1

We have sprouts. Just a short update, the Climax actually was above ground yesterday but I didn't want to update until I knew both would make it through. Another perfect germination from Attitude! I have seen a few people complain about them here but from my experiences they have been absolutely top notch. Always get what I order, always excellent germination and always make it through with absolutely no problems at all. Please excuse the watermelon plants, lol, I am getting ready to put my garden out.

Hey briman, thanks for the advice man! I hate to pm Muddy as I am sure he has plenty of work already without dealing with me. I will take your word for it and do love to hear from people that have experience with these autos as I am still quite the new grower of them. Maybe these autoflowers need a higher pH than the typical photo variety? Quite possible! I have a few accurate 8 meters and a hanna 98129. I use those accurates more than I do my hanna. They are great meters and well worth the price. Allows you to get soil pH readings right at the roots. I appreciate that recommendation and would recommend them to anyone that grows.

Hello, when I was checking out autos I saw that many of the photo recomendations were not recomended by our AFN gang. Because I was a new grower I read Muddys advice and had some great people to help me and so far only one major failure (my fault). The ph range that I have found to cause the least problems is 6.2 thru 6.7, some nutes are more available at different ph values. Salting up seems to be a more usual problem after a few weeks of feeding, that's why I started using sledgehammer between veg and bloom. It works well with FF products, next grow I will try their Kangaroots. Listen to Briman on the AKR, he knows his girlfriend very well.

Day 9

Happy 4.20!

How about a little update from the homestead. They got their first feeding yesterday. Feeding with Metrop, high quality Dutch nutrients. So the story goes like this.

Soil pH before nutrients
Climax: 7.2
AKR: 7.0

Feed:
MR1 1.6ml per gallon
Amino Root 1.6ml per gallon
Calgreen .8ml per gallon
pH down to 4.25 pH

Final soil pH:
Climax 6.6 pH
AKR 6.2 pH

Some pictures of the little ladies, (what a fucking pain in the ass uploading photos!)

would love to have a final report on it in the fert review section :pighug: :peace:

I have used Metrop for about a year now, ever since they opened a location in the US. Good people with a lot of knowledge when it comes to growing canna. I will have a look in the review section and get something up when I have some free time.

Great looking young ones you have there Psycho!! Everone loves bud porn, but I like the whole plant from start to finish!!! Something hits me every time I have to chop down one of my girls. Keep up the great work and it looks like your Aluminum Sulfate measurements worked out!!! The ph of the climax may be a touch high, but like you said, its her first feed and should drop some. I have 1 nugg left in a jar with a hygrometer on a 1&1/2 year cure of the AKR saved for a special camping trip for some mates that give me a hard time about growing auto's. Icant wait til you get a chance to sample her goods!!! Peace-briman

AKR is some strong bud. Very strong..

Btw using airpots, i think it's better to water in a spiral starting on the outside. If you let the dirt dry out too much, the roots will trim themselves much closer to the middle of the pot vs the edge. You want to get the root tips to reach the edge, but then stop before spiraling.

Good luck!!!
