New Grower Autoflower vs 12/12 Photoperiod

If you dont have any other choice then go for it, Ive grown a few different strains 12/12 from seed. They finish under a foot tall, And the yeild is typically 1/8 to a 1/4 ounce if lucky. The best thing is that you can cram a lot of them inside a small stealth cfl cab. You can finish them in red solo cups like I did. But for the time spent I would grow some automatics in 1.5 gal bags. That will give you the best yeild and wont take up to much space and allow you to grow several plants at a time. I would do It if I had a shit load of bag seed, But for some good breeders strains I woulnt waste my time.

It does seem a bit of a waste knowing how much a typical photoperiod yields. Didn't think it'd be that small o an amount mind! Only found out about 12/12 from seed yesterday so just wanted a bit more info. Definitely going t stick with the autoflowers f the now. I've got 2 in a the mo and they're doing lovely :) If I ever do get a bag o photoperiod seeds though I now know what I'll be doing with em :-D

What strains do you have to grow? Sweet seeds has some wicked automatics, I love their Cream Caramel and Cream Mandarine automatics. I also have some of their blackjack auto and green poison Fast Version. I have some Sour 60 from MDanzig and some Epic Kush Automatic from b0b_B1tch3n that I plan on growin outside this year with some photosensative strains. Got one growin now to see how it will turn out. Hoping for some great weather this year to give us all some wicked sticky dank bud. Good luck with your garden

I've got a cream caramel and an auto pounder with cheese at the minute. Got some northern lights in the post too, all autos. I tried a think different, afghan kush Ryder and 2 pineapple punch but they all failed to germ :( think different got lost and the others cracked but didn't get a tap root. Not sure what I did wrong but I've been given a different method t try so hopefully that'll do the job :) Would love to have a go at growing in the garden but my fellas grandparents live opposite us and they're always popping over f a brew and tings so its a no go :( A nice bit o sativa would be lovely but don't think my TNT would allow it. Tis all about the sticky dank baby!! :-D Same t you mush :)

Let's not forget that a photo planted outdoors in mid summer will act like an auto and mature in about 3 months ... shorter plant and faster harvest ... what's not to love ?

God damn those grandparents of his!! :-p They bring me cake allllllllllll the time though so I guess I can cope with my indoor grow f the now ;) ......and I LUUUURRRVVEEEEE the cake ;)

you can run a photo start to finish on 12/12 but it works better with autos only because its best to give photo a good amount of light in the veg cycle autos can grow on any cycle.
a little more math if you dont mind, lets you take thoses finish times 16 weeks for photos verses 11 weeks for autos.most people run 18/6 20/4 to veg photos so i say 6 weeks veg 10 weeks flower. take the 18/6 cycle that would be 1596 hours of light for a photo, if you ran a auto for 20 hours the whole 11 weeks its 1540. and some autos like Red poison, sweet cheese, that amber week 8-9 if you want a head buzz you can chop week 8 easily. even at week 9 thats only 1134. just my "My 2 cents"

Your gonna love that cream caramel it is one of my favorites. Great colors and smells. and what a stone from them with a wickedly earthy flavor while exhaling. Got to get some more of them.

Never enjoyed maths so much until now :-p

When I was trawling through the millions of strains f which one i wanted t grow cream caramel was the one that caught my eye the most but someone told me they didn't rate it that much so mixed it up and went f a few others aswell :) Cream caramel was the first to make an appearance though so will always have a special place in my heart..... Unless I kill it..... Which I won't.... Hopefully :-p

The extra amount I spend on running my led setup for 20/4 for autos is negligible compared to 12/12. I Would rather run my light longer and get those giant tight auto buds that eat up light all day than stress a photo at 12/12. I have also grown autos next to photos in 12/12 and found that it's just plain not worth it to have an auto in 12/12.

Numbers are great, but then you have to factor in how starting a photo on 12/12 stresses it right from the start. The plant thinks that it's sprouting right at the end of the season and rushes itself to finish, causing stress to the plant. I would rather grow an auto for a quick fix and grow a photo proper starting with 18/6 and moving to 12/12. I don't have a link, but I read an article on another site where the did side by side experiments and the 12/12 from the start photos took longer and were smaller than the ones that were vegged proper until sex. Stress led to worse pot as well.
