Harvest & Curing BOVEDA CHALLENGE w/ Mephisto and FastBuds

Hey everyone,

I was lucky enough to get selected for the Boveda Challenge a couple weeks back, and now that I have some fresh herb ready to be cured, it’s go time! Thanks again @Boveda!

Now for whatever reason Ive had 2 test kits show up, so I’m going to put them both to the test!

The kits themselves are very well packaged, everything was nice and neatly packed into the box. Each box contained the following: 2x CVaults, 2x Grinders, Rolling Papers (5 pack of King Palms, and a booklet of Futurola papers/filter tips), and a lighter!

My challenge will consist of this: After 14 days of curing in the CVaults, which buds taste/smoke better? The buds in the CVault with the Boveda pack? Or the ones in the CVaults without the Boveda pack?

Test #1 Mephisto - Sweet n Sour
(7g with Boveda, 7g without Boveda)

Test #2 FastBuds - Gelato
(7g with Boveda, 7g without Boveda)

I’ll check back in with some smoke reports after April 6/20, when it’s time to crack the CVaults open!

Results
Well this was a great little test to be able to try out, thanks again to @Boveda for sending them out. I rolled up 4 joints this morning, 2 of each strain, with one containing buds that have been with a 62% Boveda pack for the the past 20 days, and one with buds that had no Boveda pack in with them. I could get behind doing these types of challenges all day.

TEST #1: Mephisto - Sweet n Sour
TEST #2: FastBuds - Gelato Auto

- Aroma Before Grind:
#1 - Very similar with both CVaults, hard to really find a noticeable difference. Both have some sweet with some deep dank mixed in there.
#2 - Very similar with both CVaults, hard to really find a noticeable difference.They both have a creamy dank/piney smell to them.
- Aroma After Grind:
#1 - Bud with Boveda, it just had that little bit of an edge over the bud without a Boveda. Deep sweetness with a hint of black liquorice at the end.
#2 - Bud with Boveda, again it has just abit of a fresher/more vibrant smell to it.
- Smokeability:
#1 - Bud with Boveda, there’s no denying that it’s burns slower and smoother with the Boveda pack, than the one without. I’ve always preferred my cannabis to be fresh, rather dried up and turning to dust when I go to grind and smoke it.
#2 - Bud with Boveda, I may be starting to sound like a broken record here, but it burns slower and smoother than the buds without.
- Flavour:
#1 + #2 - Bud with Boveda, once again both joints with the Boveda buds had just that little bit of a fresher taste then the buds without the Boveda. All those terpenes really shine through on that first inhale of the joint!

I will say that I 100% preferred the buds with the Boveda packs, over the ones without them. Fresher buds, which contributes to the whole slower burning, and better aromas when ground up. Great product, and I would highly recommend picking some up if you enjoy keeping your buds fresh up right until the end of the jar!
