Lighting CFL seedling height? Too hot!!!

So I have 5 seeds, 3 white russians unknown sex and 2 diesel ryders female in 50/50 OF/Light Warrior soil, and they barely sprouted.

Cab temps at the location of the top of the soil os 90-92. The light is 3 inch away from seedlings. HOT!! Can i bring the party cups farther away from the light because at that level it would be 85. But that would also put the light from the seedling at aout 10-15 inches away. What gives?

On the cotyledons, there are lil dark spots on them. Do these sound like hot spots?

you start a little further away with the light then bring them to that distance you would not normally hit the ground running on those temps and distance

So your saying that I can keep them far away than 3" for now? Won't this cause the seedling to stretch tho?

I also reduced the amount of bulbs to just 2 x 27 watt daylight from 5 lights, and this helped reduce the temperature by alot.

How often do I satureate the seedlings? Everyday? Or also wait until they completely dry, every 2 days? I figure if it's too hot, I should be misting them 3-4 times a day but I could be wrong.

seedling stretch isnt that big a deal in the first 2 weeks just dont put your light like 3 feet away. once they look healthy as far as watering i spray them for the first 1-2 weeks with a water bottle manually. i usually do it 1-2 times a day. dont let the soil tell you when to feed them. let the plant tell you. if its green and happy then your doing it right. if it isnt then post here and we will tell you to either water more add nutrients or that you are overwatering. seedlings dont need a TON of moisture just enough to start out the growth. that is once they are rooted and popped out for around 2-3 days.

So a Diesel Ryder fem turned mutant! Look at the pics, not the best shot, but it's 4 leaf clover! From the camera angle the leaf tips look curled downward, so it doesn't show well, but they are not curled downward!! It's like the leaves were cut down the center, forming 4 total leaves, not counting 2 cotyledon leaves. WTF?

Other Diesel Ryder fem, had a white spot before true leaves formed. 2-3 days later tho, it looks like this and the white spot has gained some pigmentation from white to yellow to light green. Im assuming mitosis is helping the leaf spot to heal! But what happened to cause this?

Any insights on any of these problems? Cab fluctuates between 85-90 with good circulation tho.

Kronic, those issues with the young seedlings are not uncommon & there's no reason to be concerned right now. Temps are a touch high but I've completed a grow where I stayed in the 85-92 range and things came out fine. I've got a couple of plants in my current grow that were real ugly ducklings for the first week, and now they're a month old and thriving. I also had a plant in my last grow with one cotyledon that was completed killed by getting trapped in the seed casing, and she grew just fine.

yo kronic those first leaves dont make the plant either. they look just fine for the stage they are in. might just be stressed from the temps as 90 is on the high side but im in a southern state so i feel your pain.

The leaves on my auto assissan at three weeks seem to be drooping a bit at least the bigger ones I think the soil is moist enough I running a 125 watt cfl about five inches above plant temps are high seventies almost eighty otherwise the plant seems vibrante I've already chucked four males this one shows no sex yet so I have my hopes up

as a seedling you want the cfl light 12-18 inches away
when its starts to eneter veg stage with a few leave then bring light lower like 2 inches away buut watch out cos u dnt want leaves 2 burn

Ello iv got seedlings at about inch maybe two by tomorrow. My 125W cfls been delayed so iv got a 20W about 2-3inches away and a 15W LED about 5inches away is that to close/far away. Plus I won't hv my 125 until early feb damn customs
