Haha...there are levels to DIY capabilities and I'm nowhere to be found even at the lowest pit.

I don't trust myself unless with a detailed step by step pictorial or video. Make sure i cover all bases cos i really don't know sh×t bout electricals

The ones without heatsink..are they the QB boards everyone talks about?

Yes, boards without heatsinks are QB. But there are also better boards with different chips (up to 212 lm/W). Also you can find strips instead of boards, which also don't need heatsinks if driven at low current (maybe just some ALU profiles with 1-3mm base if driven harder).
