Basically what happened is the cotyledons got stuck together by remnants of the embryo. Most of the reading I did said to gently remove this. The statistics of survival is not good if it remains like this. It said to use tweezers and a sewing pin. Wet the area and allow it to soften up. Then use the pin to get in between the leaves at the base and try to shimmy the remnants off. If you can just use the tweezers to pull it off. I did it with the tweezers with very little physical trauma to the plant, actually pretty much 0.
