New Grower First time grow and need some guidance, please.

Does anyone have any recommendations or links to information regarding fertiliser, pest control, and ph levels?

I was planning on planting marigolds and other herbs to mitigate pests.

All good as long as you go with a big pot (5 gal min) I would also make it a cloth pot. Autoflowers react badly to getting root bound, they'll flower early and you could end up with a three gram plant.
I'll make sure I use a decent size pot.

Hi all,

This is my Sweet Seeds Red Poison. Although she's anything but red. Haha

Just after some advice regarding how much more time she's got left before harvest. Today is the end of week 8 and the leaves have been yellowing for a week now. The first photo is from last week and the subsequent photos are from today.

How much time would you guys wait until starting to flush and then harvest?

Very nice ... I'd feed her a while longer ... looks to be about a month from harvest ... have you been giving her bloom nutes ?

If you can spare the seed I'd try a heat of the summer grow ... I grow indoors at temps up to 37c and plants prefer outdoors ... can you plant one in the ground in full sunlight that can grow to over 100cm ? If you can give it full sunlight you can always shade it on extra hot days ... Do you need to hide it ? Can you keep it watered ? Do you have access to nutes ? You appear to have a green thumb which always helps ...

Hi @Chester,

Thanks for taking the time to give me your thoughts.

I've been feeding her with GH Flora series nutes, following the guide they have on the bottle but only giving 1/4 strength to begin with and increasiang to half strength. It has been an outside grow for the majority of it's life, however it's been unseasonably cold and overcast here in Australia so it wasn't able to get the full sun that if required, especially in the veg stage. I panicked a few weeks ago and bought a Mars Hydro Reflector 48 to give her a 18/6 light schedule. Currently it gets 8/9 hours under the LED at night from 11pm to 7/8am, and in the morning I move her outside into full sun if the weather permits. It's been on this regime for two weeks.

I had planned to put a plant in the ground, however the tree cover over our backyard would mean the plant could only get 6-8 hours of full sun a day.

I've definitely made some mistakes with this first grow, however nutrient burn is not one of them. I think I may've been overly cautious with the nutes.

While she looks to be a pretty nice plant for some reason she never fully committed to flowering ... it could be she will pack on some more buds in the next couple weeks ... how much direct sunlight can you get it in a pot outdoors ... a Mars 48 sounds sorta weak for flowering ...

In your backyard would that be 6-8 hrs of sun and the rest heavy shade or filtered sunlight ? If you planted it in the backyard and it grew to 2m could you leave it there for the whole 3 months ?

If I planted in the backyard the plant would be in heavy shade. The neighbors have trees on either side that block the morning and afternoon light.

I got a Mars Reflector 48 because they're relatively cheap and, this being my first ever grow, I didn't want to spend too much. I will upgrade though. But I'll do it next year.

When the plant is outside it gets lots of direct sunlight. Except when's it's overcast of course, which unfortunately has been a lot of the time recently.

I'd sure try to get a summer grow going ... if you can keep it watered I'd use a 5 gal bucket w/ lots of holes or a 4 or 5 gal nursery pot ... either size can be heavy to move around ... the more direct light the shorter the plant ...

Really? That's very interesting. I'd assumed that more light, especially during the vegetative stage, would result in a taller more bushy plant.

I've actually started a second grow already (she's on day three). I got a larger 20ltr pot for this one. The older plant is in a 10 litre pot. Now that more sun has been forsecast I'm hoping the new grow will do better. Moving the pots is no big issue either.
