My mind is fried at the mo taking in all this info lol but i can only learn as i go. ph is at 6.5 will test run off when potted. Any tips on how to adjust ec levels? as soon as i add rhiztonic the ec goes through the roof,

Sorry, didn't have time this a.m. to properly welcome you to AFN and the New Growers forum. You want to keep your soil pH in the 6.3 - 6.5 range. Normally when you add the nutrients it will cause the pH to drop. If so, that's what the pH Up is for. Add a couple drops and test again. It's very potent so only use a little at a time. If the pH is above that range, then use the pH Down to lower it. EC readings are more for hydro growing. In soil, start with 1/4 the recommended strength and slowly increase it, all the while watching your plants to see how they respond.

Not familiar with Plant Magic soil. What does it consist of and any slow release nutrients in it?

Hi Muddy thanks for that advice
plant magic -Soil Supreme is a unique blend of sphagnum peat, Fytocell foam and there very own Organic Growth Stimulant, i also have coco and bio bizz but will experiment after this grow.
Can't wait to get started

I could do with a bit of advice on my intake fan. I have the intake going through the bottom of the tent, now would i be better with the intake fan going through the top of the tent and the outtake at the bottom or vice versa?

As I'm sure you know, hot air rises, so have you intake at the bottom and exhaust at the top to remove the hot air. Most of us run passive intakes, no fan, just a flap or opening. Exhausting pulls the fresh air in.

That soil sounds okay. Using foam bits instead of perlite. I assume by Growth Stimulants they are referring to some starter nutrients.

so i have it set up correctly then good stuff,do you think i should add anything in the soil to help prevent magnesium/ calcium deficiency due to the led or wait until i see signs first?

Again i just want to say a big thank you for all your advice

hey mate im just starting my first grow as well, i think you would be better waiting to see if the cal/mag deficiency starts before adding anything or they might end up with too much of it

Nice 1 larky will do just trying to get a head start, i just want these baby sprouted so i can kick off but what i've learned so far is you need to be patient defo not 1 of my strong points :p

I would just get a bottle of cal/mag supplement and keep it on hand should the need arise. Some strains need it more than others so it will depend somewhat on what you grow.
