Day 14 update
1 White Widow, 1 Think Different, 1 Northern Lights, 5 Super Hash (3 in one pot and 2 singles0
400w CFL as close as comfort allows plus side benefit of 400w HPS that is covering another 3 girls. 18/24 and fan (heated) on when needed
humidity 55 - 80
temps have been too low I feel and now aiming at higher of 25 - 29C. A drop below this I feel is stunting growth.
watering on wake up with only black treacle added to lower pH to 6.5
soil check pH today is 6.3 so I have top added lime.
If you check my first grow you will see I have had pH issues. The conclusion is that there was lock out - and I think this was magnesium. Trouble is until you get pH correct there is no point in adding more mag as it is just stored and then causes even more problems.
With this grow I am keeping a check on the oil pH to eliminate problems before they occur. I have also chucked away chemical pH up and down.
So here is the issue - you start off with a higher pH water , add a Bio bizz nute and pH drops way below 6.5. No good adding an up (especially a chem :no
So what eventually happens is the soil lowers it pH then you get lock out !
What to do ???
This is my plan;
NO CHEM UP OR DOWN
oil pH check - if low add lime - really is good!
I have found out that humic acid is a great tonic for soil but also ups pH! Yes an organic pH up.
So - nute off till week 3 then I will add root juice and possibly bio grow a little by little.
I start of with a water sat for 24 hrs that has generally a pH of 7. Add what i require. Check pH. First of all up the pH by oxygenating for hours - time depends on how many litre i am needing ( 1 is bout 2 hours and 2 litres bout 4). I have a two airstone bubble maker.
If pH is still too low add humic acid at that point.
The aim is to get 6.5 obviously. But it is tricky. I manage to do it about 8 out of 10 times. Hoping that the lime then buffer for those times that i cant get 6.5.
I will add my other grow and links about humic acid in another post below
