Northern Lights, ah, that was my first grow ever, and still a favorite (I was indoor). Looks like you're getting some great advice, we all want you to succeed!
For inexpensive soil and nutes, give WG's easy Dirt a read. I still use the basic recipe, and love the fish fert.

All the stickies in the new growers section are worth the read, and I'd start with Muddy's. He's da man.
