Hey y’all wondering if I could get some help. This is my first go so I’m anxious now that I’m guessing I’m nearing final weeks. Was hoping to get some eye tests from people as far as how long to go. Growing some Amnesia Haze autos and started seed 11ish weeks ago. I know I haven’t done things perfect up to this point, one plant has deficiency/ lock out symponts but I’m learning and also makeshift environment. Ive recently done a flush. I’ve done my best, I think I did a few things wrong here and there in each step but I’m hoping nothing massive . I know yields might not be anywhere near what they could be. Any tips from here until the end? I think I might be noticing plants pulling up a little less water. No yellowing yet. Amnesia haze I’ve read can take up to 14 weeks sometimes. I’m in a cold environment so I had some troubles early with climate control. I have the feeling they are small, or not as far along as I think they might be in the flowering stage. I’m still proud enough I got this far and I’ve learned a ton this first round. I still have 1 plant in this batch lagging far behind but is huge compared to these that will be nice to sort of have 1 last wave while knowing a bit better what to look for. Here’s some picks. Help me out if you can. I’ll spam some photos of plants and random trics. Don’t be harsh if my grow is underwhelming it’s my first try!

Fairly new grower here (harvesting second grow now), so I posted my own "are they ready yet?" message not that long ago.

They'll be ready some day next month, I wager, but it's hard to get more specific without being able to see the individual trichomes. You still have white pistils that are erect - as the plant matures, they will tend to fold back into the flower (unless your plants have a lot of white pistils at the top of the stems because they were subject to really high light levels). In addition to trichs changing from clear to cloudy to amber, the colas swell. Looking at the pictures of the plants, I don't get the impression that they've "fattened up" so it's "weeks" not "days".

It really is all about the trichs. First clue is frost, then the white pistils turn orange and fold in as the trichs gradually change from clear to cloudy to amber. Checking lots of resources, the consensus seems to be that a small percentage of amber is preferred but most growers gauge readiness by the fact that the number of clear trichs that have turned cloudy.

From your pictures, we can see that you've got frost but can't tell much about the clear/cloudy state the individual trichs. That's where a loupe and/or a microscope come in.

Grab a combo 20 x + 60 x loupe that has a built in light and examine your plants. With the 20x loupe, you can get an impression of the state of the trichs but at 60x you can examine them individually. I don't know of a way to get a picture using a loupe but maybe you'll have better luck holding the loupe in front of your smart phone than I did.

USB microscopes are more expensive than a loupe. The quality is down vs a loupe but it's easy to take pictures. Photos from a microscope really help nail things down (ref attached picture). If you're using macOS, the Tomolov USB microscopes are not compatible.

From what I've read (and seen) sugar leaves mature faster than the rest of the flower so they're a false signal. what I've seen is that the sugar leaves are at least a week ahead of the rest of the flower.

Looking over your pix, try to reduce the amount of sharpening. One indication that the photos are too sharp is that some of the parts of the plants seem to have sharp edges. With a little less sharpening, we might be able to see more detail because the pixels aren't being munged.

Loupe vs microscope, trichs vs pistils, whatever — one thing we know for sure is that it will take too long but, like smoking a brisket, it's ready when it's ready.

:yeahthat:
Get yourself a loupe or usb microscope. Check the trichomes and the rest is up to you.
clear = trippy
milky = balanced
amber = sleepy
Try to get a mix of the three...ie, 10-20% amber, 60-80% milky, 10-20% clear

I have a loupe! I thought I had a few more weeks to go by visuals so I wasn’t prioritizing the trichome photos mattering too much yet just wanted to include them. I keep looking and it looks like I’m moving from in between clear to cloudy. Was just hoping to see how I was looking from rough estimates to sort of confirm where I am in flowering.

Your plants look a bit overfed, too much nitrogen. It will slow ripening. They look to be a couple of weeks left depending on the temperature.

Have fun! :goodluck:

No offense at all, but those are some rather strange looking buds you've got there. Looks like you may have some type of weird foxtailing going on? What are your temps and how close is your light? Some strains can have genetic foxtailing, my cookies based strain looked very similar as far as structure. It may be a haze thing but I've never growen one. Based on the bud structure I'd say she's got like another 4 weeks or so. How far along is she?

As far as the calyx goes, you can see how the ones on the end of this cola are like nice and plump? If you're looking at pointy calyxes they're still immature. Near the end (in my experience) they will shoot out a ton of new pistils and you'll be like wtf and then you'll notice that she's put on bulk a few days later. Usually once I notice the calyxes looking like the above pic I will start checking trichs.

She also got way too much N (time release ferts were a no go lol) so she's stupid bushy and has definitely been slow to mature.

Crap pic cause its a screenshot of a way zoomed in pic, but you can see here what I mean about the calyxes being pointy and immature.

So I deff had some temperature issues, over feeding issues, environment issues. It’s winter, and I was building a make shift environment as I started. I did a lot of things on the fly and learned a lot of what not to do. So i now know I over fed, temperature issues have been resolved but we’re low for a large portion of the grow. It never got below 65 but wasn’t getting above 73-75 for a while. So slow growth would make sense for the issues I’ve faced getting started for my first try!I wouldn’t know if the fox tailing is normal or not. I have an open tent ( I made it) so it could be them bending towards the light. I move them around and have supplemental lighting on the outside edge. So I know I’ve got mistakes I just want to hope I have something in the last month! Trying to get a feel for where I am at in flowering despite my shortcomings and learning curve so far! Thanks for your input! Any more info or opinions would be welcome. ( even constructive criticism, I am a noob after all)

hi!

A master grower once told me -Know your limits-

This seems a joke but it isn’t , growing weed is “easy”, but we try hard to overcomplicate things, so just be simple and start from that, once you know how the plant react to things then you’ll start adding them.

You don’t need to spend a lot of money to grow: water and soil !

AFN community is fantastic, this is a great advantage to start with!

Just wanted to say some kind words.
I am a pretty new grower as well and this helped me a lot !

have fun growing, it’s all that matters !
