Their larger cob panel is using the cheapest leds available and the cobs are probably not to far behind. A Cree cob which there are 4 of can cost 35 dollars each or as little as 3 dollars each. It'll they were using the best they would talk more about it. Epistar leds offer zero savings vs hps as far as heat goes. But hps will giv you a much better yield.

Their plain cob panels show a square cob in the center which is most likely the same ones on eBay. They are notorious for doa and poor quality. Not sure why those don't offer Cree either. It's up to you but I would stay away from any company who tries to hide what's inside.

Big thank you for that @BigSm0 . Yeah, this product seemed nice and would have been a really convinient to get but as I tried to find more information about it I just couldn't. I guess that alone should be a huge red flag. Guess I will patiently wait for some new GN lights or bundle up some savings for that SolarSystem550 or Kind LED.

Ohhh no tried one of those companies listed and they too are using cheap epistar leds. 22.5% efficient. A good way to tell if a company is good is to see if they list their efficiency numbers. Photons/heat ratio is efficiency. Hps is around 25% efficient so seeing an led at 22.5% means it's a big waste of money. Check out companies that sell with Cree leds or cobs. Cobs are a less expensive way of putting expensive leds in a panel. Instead of 20 3watt leds you have one cob. Grow northern seems to be a good company from what I have seen that uses quality parts.

I bet you tried out Kind LED then. Hard to believe that some 850e light like SolarSystem550 would be only 22,5% efficient on electricity but I guess everything can be a ripoff these days.. Good thing you can share your experience here and save me some money and misery by giving some quidance. Yeah I've been there, bought some lights that didn't do anything close what they promised. So far I have been having great results with GN lights but I am worried they are getting old and had to service two out of three already. Guess I would be best waiting for the new models from them to arrive and then go for it, rather than wasting money on semi-ok products.

Thank you. I ran dozens of different lights in the past and now look back and think jeez was I really that gullible lol. These companies do a good job at listing facts that are not necessarily important and they are also allowed to lie and twist things around.

Check out the companies that are selling with either Cree 3070,3590 cobs or citizen cobs. All lighting talk these days leads to a mention of cobs and it's only because they work. Cree leds, the good are efficient meaning you actually get a good amount of light from them per watt. Now the regular Cree leds are very efficient as well but cost a few dollars each. It takes 20-30 leds together and the labor to wire them all up to equal a cob.
