I need to buy an LED, but I'm not sure what I'm even looking for. I want to do between 4 and 8 sites and I dont understand how the wattage for LEDs work. I've read on here for a couple of days now, and googled my a$$ off but I still dont get it...can someone explain what I should be looking for LED wise, and why?

The room itself is 8'x7' but I can frame in a smaller area if i need to.

You want to aim for 30-40w per square foot with the current tech that will get less as LEDs advance...take a look through are LED review section there are plenty in there....buy a light/lights you have seen used or if you want to go custom copy a spectrum you have seen used.

Grow Northern have a good reputation.

I did 8 grows using a 250W CFL which i've now replaced with a 120W (real power use) Prakasa LED but you'll want more power in that size area, as Tang explained.

All the best,

steely

I'm not sure what UK lights you can get over that side of the pond in the US, I have heard good things about Area51 and Apache Tech which are US made, try giving them a ring and you can get a deal for more than one.

Don't be scared of going for 60-70w per sq ft either :)

I have an area 51 myself. With LED's just know that upfront cost are going to be much higher. you could grab a custom spectrum apollo for cheap as well. If you want just 1 light go for an At600 by apache. Covers a 4x4 area. If not you could grab multiple Rw 150s from area 51.
The most affordable option would just be to build your own leds with COBS. If you have 1kilowatt of cobs you'd have enough light for that area.

I can get a discount code for the AT600 from a guy on another site if you go for it but seriously consider building your own cob units if you want more for less.

Awesome, thanks guys. I'll look into everything mentioned.
