My theory would be that you have some gene that is only activated by very short day length. A "speed it up winter is almost here" gene. Once you go back to the 24 hour cycle, it is deactivated and this is enough to shock the plant back into veg. The Mendel ratios should confirm it.

it was a combination of traits the sksocks is a very phot sens lady that clones well indoors but will snap into flower once natural light hours outdoors take
but I used her because of her longer preflower stretch and the size it packed on as it was turning so the clones would get plenty medium large to produce well but had benefit of cloning and mothering
so I choose her for this one
and the way she happened to melt together did this
when I get more time to test larger numbers of early f's I will test this more
but I am curious if the auto trait is a genetic mutation(could be from part of original genetic variation from seaweed to land weed) sorta like a back pack so to speak of hormones to pass on to the next gen a survival trait needed from it ancestors during the iceage to survive certain conditions(maybe this plant didn't really pass on the die after quick profuse flowering trait and use it's back pack of stored goods to autoflower but was able to reveg while conditions served well to do so
could also be a form of timming during end flower getting mix signals of light switch during final push time and feeling the change in environment tried to continue to grow
the plants can uniquely adapt depending on their conditions fairly quickly
sorta like the reason white people may be white is their lack of vitamin d and sun light over generations of survival during iceage conditions where grain and cattle became source meat and less fish and sun was present?
but just a partial reason for this genetic variation but a example of what can happen

I will take as a quick example but one of the largest overlooked is the breeding stock used
in the specific conditions of most mj breeders we radically mesh together very dif dom genes from dif sides of the pool and their dominate traits w/in their own families will create their own unique recessive traits at times due to the sheer numbers that could be tested per generation unusual variations willlllll be present
when one is using a constant supply of fairly similar genetics the observations will be more uniform w/in the possible combinations
it should be looked at as w/in genetic coding of AA BB Aa Bb etc ..there is another level within the AA there are possible Aone side having a far reaching Ac so to speak a gene that will show generations later w/in a similar variation and look identical to the eye but have subtle variation like taste and smell or particularly unique light sensitivity

So what are some good autos strains to veg and clone? I want to make a few mothers to smoke from monthly.

I will give you sorta a secret though if you are doing this in your own breeding select a male and female that show a very hardy transition stretch and growth for your base
this will allow the plant to continue to grow a fair bit if it is very sensitive and sex snaps as soon as it is put out side for instance
but you directed your statement towards indoor
I would truthfully build them if you can
now all that being said
if you are looking for a true auto to clone
You will need a blend of genetics that will auto but at a much later internode length but it will only go so far because if the mother is a true auto by most records it will not auto abd then continue to veg
on those clones I ran I 12/12 them to be sure

is here is a pic of what is looking like the last harvest the branches I seeded are nice and plump w/ mature seed so they are getting the full chop soon for some budder storage
those are all bottom "useless" bud sites
