Okay what about when you are switching to bloom/bud stage what will happen if i just flush with 5gallons instead of 9? What do you think will happen??
If you want to do a proper full flush I would go with three times the volume of the pot. So for a 3gal pot I would use 9 gal and do it all in one go, just pour it through slowly and try not to flood the top with a lake. The first feed I would make 1/3 to 1/2 strength.
If your going from growth to bloom so long as you get a decent run off I can't see it making that much difference.
I've read in one of the threads on here a guide to flushing etc but I can't find it.
Do you have an EC meter or pen? If you do check the run off until it's roughly the same as the water going in then it's had enough Also are you in soil or coco?
