Plants cannot absorb sugar. sugars only feed the life in the soil. In hydro its a total waste.
Your buds will smoke a lot cleaner than most commercial grown weed as it's been flushed properly. Commercial growers don't usually flush or cure properly for speed and profit

commercial growers don't flush because its a waste of time. you cannot " flush" anything out of a plant. you can however starve it to death......

Hoy old fella can you please explain this , as I have been doing a bit of home work on this , and I respect your skills and would like to learn .

Thank you Hecno .

So pop are you implying that a tapering of nutes to nothing is a better option than a flush? The sugars thing always stumped me, I just never saw how it makes a better smoking experience. Now pops is saying the sugars aren't absorbed in the first place so it would be impossible for a difference in residue due to sugars. So what other factors could there be? Drying and cure plus packaging and disbursement?

I'm curious myself. I use Molasses, but only for the Cal/Mag. :weed::peace::weed:

It's my understanding that when a plant if "flushed", it's being forced to consume all the nutes stored in it's leaves. It's more like being starved to death, as the nutrients are removed from the medium and the plants are forced to consume their internal reserves.....
 :2cents: :pop:

Anyone who wants to or considers doing this, needs to read on how the root system works, how water and nutrients enter the plant. there is no mechanism that would allow these things to enter, nor would they be in the right form for a plant to use.

so what about what is in the plant? Lets look at magnesium. First, any free magnesium in the plant will stay in the plant. Magnesium is a component of chlorophyll, and is thus bound to it until the chlorophyll itself degrades after death. We've all heard the line about, you have to flush out the mag or your smoke will pop and crackle! Total BS! If you rendered a plant down to just its magnesium, you wouldn't have enough to make a spark! Think about it. An average dose of cal/mag is about 100 ppm. That' s one particle of Mag for every 10,000 parts of water. Not going to affect your smoke at all. if your bud is popping and crackling, you have dead spider mites in it and the bodies are exploding from the moisture in the turning to steam.
Probably the only thing you'd accomplish besides starving your plant just when it needs nutes the most, is the reductions of sugars in the bud could make the smoke smoother. So if you feel you need to do this, do it the last 2 -3 days to reduce sugars. And if you vape or cook mostly with your bud, then don't flush at all!

yes sugars are used up, but thats about it, no reduction in most minerals takes place as the processes they are required for slow and stop as the plant consumes sugars just to stay alive. Even that only needs 2-3 days if the fan leaves are dead, they are the sotage area for sugars
