Well here's a bit of sad news... All of us in the UK have been signing an online petition to get the UK government to debate the legalisation of cannabis/medical cannabis. When the petition reaches 100,000 signatures the government has a legal duty to debate it in parliament. Well it's now at well over 200,000 signatures and here is the government response

Typical right wing Tory crap.....they won't even consider it
You people need to take a tip from us in the colonies; a little rebellion can be a good thing to teach the Crown some humility and respect for the will of the people.
All joking aside, my heart goes out to the UK. Your government is so bloody absurd sometimes I half wonder if the Tories read 1984 and thought it was a primer for leadership.
"Privacy? We don't understand why you'd want such a thing; if you're in London we're watching you. Also, we'd love to hear your feedback on what we should debate and discuss. We won't actually DO it, because we don't care about anyone's opinion but our own, but feel free to put your suggestion in the pointless digital box. It makes for a frightfully good laugh."
The most sickening and insulting part of that is the beginning, where they state simply that Science (the nebulous, never-cited noun version) proves Marijuana is bad and therefore they won't discuss it. I'm not saying that because it's a mindset based on lies and fiction (I won't even dignify it by calling it "flawed science", as any researcher worth their salt will tell you we've done nothing scientific in nearly a century with regards to cannabis and its potential dangers).
No, it's sickening and insulting because the will of the people is being so flippantly ignored. Not even a half-assed rant on the floor of Parliament followed by a token vote and dismissal; it's like they can't even be bothered to PRETEND they're there to represent the voters. They may as well have just stuck a picture of the two-fingered salute on there in lieu of text and called it a day. It would hardly be any worse.
