Hi all, 3 weeks ago my mum told me she has bowel cancer. (this is the first time I have really spoken of it to anyone). She has a large tumor at the top of her bowel which has also attached it self to her diafram and a small tumor on her liver. She has just had a 'poo bag' fitted and should be out of hospital tomorrow. She isn't due to start any kemo for at least 6 weeks which gives me time to try and help her.

I'm due to crop in less than a week which is good, now, is it worth trimming up the buds or should I just leave the small leaves on? Does it make a difference to the oil? I also have 2 x 7ft trees and 1 x 11ft tree growing in my garden which will come down at the end of Oct, start of Nov depending on weather which I also intend to use. Will I need to wash off these buds or will they still be ok. I don't live near a road or use chems in my garden.

Right, the type of bud I'm growing. Its my own breed. Its a strawberry haze x unknown very heavy indica. The indica seeds were given to me by a hells angel who was a big grower. It smelt like pink grapefruit and smashed you into the back of the chair. I wanted to see what I would get by crossing them.

I have 4 plants under lights , 3 of which have taken on the haze and 1 the indica, I know this as I chopped a branch last week to try it. It's good. The 3 outside are the same type.

I had 30gm of weed left from my last crop so I gave it a bash at making some oil. It came out more like tar than oil. I'm glad I tried it on a small amount first as it's not so simple as it's made out. I ended up with small bits still in it. I need to adjust my filtering process.

I know my grow isn't the best for CBD's but at the moment it's all I have, will this be good enough?

Sorry to hear about this. I hope she gets better! How did you do your extraction? If you can access very strong ethanol, it can be very good. I would chop up the dry plant material prior to the extraction. Just use everything you got if you want maximal amount of oil.

Thanks mate. I used isopropyl alcohol in a rice cooker outside. Dont think I will bother trimming to much and like you say use everything.

Sorry for the news man and best wishes for a speedy recovery to your mom. Might I recommend doing some looking into coconut oil recipes? It is easy to make, goes along way, and can be used in the place of any butter/oil recipe aswell as made into gel caps.

Sorry to hear but yer mom.
That just blows....but it can be beat. Glad she is open to yer help an meds. My mom suffers a lot of pain from arthritis and fibromialgia but is far to conservative to try the healing power of the herb.

Coconut oil? Really? How!

My heartfelt thoughts to you and your mother.
I lost my wife to cancer in 2012, at the age of just 39, so I am more than familiar with the devastation that even a diagnosis can bring.

I'm also very aware of the incredible improvement to quality of life this wonder herb can bring.
As my wife's caregiver during her illness, I was amazed at how much of a difference it made to her chemo treatment!
Thanks to the medicine, she was no longer nauseous, actually had an appetite, and even - shock horror - gained weight!
Not to mention the quality sleep and dramatic increase in energy.

It is through my role as her caregiver, that I became an [almost fanatical] advocate of medical cannabis, and is what drives me to grow now, for the benefit of others.

Good starting point is Rick Simpson's site - Phoenix Tears - and the many You Tube videos available.
Always a great landing spot, particularly re: production of oil.

As mentioned above by @Fishman , I too have heard wonderful reports of coconut based oils, and making capsules.
