Newman Chucks Pollen

Hubbabubbasmelloscope throwing down the finger hash during seed harvest, it’s melting onto my coffee cup. A nice morning indeed

Round 2 Start
5,776 seeds harvested so far… only the two CMDxCMD ladies to harvest.
Earlier this week I planted some seeds. I filled 4x 1g fabric pots with Roots Organic Original soil mix and sowed Mephisto 3BOG, Sour Orange Diesel Kush, Forum Stomper, and HubbabubbaSmelloscope. Simultaneously I sowed a 72 count tray, 18 cells for each varietal two seeds per cell. The crosses sown were CMDx 3BOG, CMDx SODK, CMDx Forum Stomper, and CMDx HubbabubbaSmelloscope. These will be backcrossed onto the original Mephisto gear to strengthen the Mephisto traits of my crosses. I figure I should be able to get some decent males from a 36 plant sample
All the Mephisto seeds came up today, some of my crosses were up yesterday, more today, and I suspect the rest will follow.

Let’s hope the 72ct tray works long enough to transplant out the desirables to solos and bring them to pollen. Unfortunately plant counts won’t allow me to grow out a few females to see the results but a friend might take a few to finish out if they aren’t miserably stunted by then so we could see what these ladies produce

Wow, almost 6000 seeds? That's incredible.

I had to re-read a few times, so you started with some regular seeds and hoped for males? Then left them in the tent to pollinate the rest? And I saw you collected some to save for later.

Thanks for the neat thread and the documentation. I have been curious how people do this but hadn't paid enough attention yet.

Run 1 I started 5 Coal Miners Daughter Auto Regs, Got 2 males and I used those to cross to all my favorite auto ladies, I think 14 types? This time round 2 it’s 144 regular crosses of 4 types hunting for males to back cross onto the original lineages respectively. Highly recommend trying your hand at some seed making it is good fun. A whole other way to enjoy the same hobby. Thanks for reading:pass:

Round 2 Day 9
Potting up the best seedlings from the crosses to be hunted for males, headed into their own special tent. I got some cheap 1/2 gallon plastic bags 30/$3.99 and I am folding them up to 1/3 the size and filling with Stonington blend.

Finally harvested the two coal miners daughters completing my first round harvest. Haven’t counted them but you can get an idea. The small plant with better smell and more purpling gave a smaller amount of healthier sized seeds. The larger lady gave more smaller seeds. I would breed the short lady first as her smell was superior.

Round 2 looking pretty good, in some cases better than the single specimens from the parental lineages I plan on crossing back onto, makes me wonder if I should sack up and just breed what suits me and not try making true to original autos but instead true original autos. Funny 3BOG is always a finicky breed in my care and these offspring are no different. Maybe it’s the 24/0…. been meaning to put it on a timer

Round 2 day 26
Males are throwing pollen, isolation time(they were in a tent of seedlings). I narrowed the field down to one male each of the 4 cultivars. The 14 females of the crosses are being seen off to loving homes who will report back on bud quality(they know the plants will be small) . I’ll update later today on the 4 mothers to be. Really excited about the 3BOG pheno I hit on the female. The SODK female is super fast flowering whereas the SODK male is slow which isn’t ideal as I’d like both to lean one way. Both SODK and HubbabubbaSmelloscope males really stood right out as the obvious choice and both have developed a really pleasant smell when stem rubbed.
Forum stomper male was tougher to choose and eventually I went with the slower flowering, tighter nodes guy.
Next seed run I am doing blackberry and popping 100+ seeds of one type to do a more in depth pheno hunt to ensure a purple progeny
