Although I've recently read different explanations for keeping the soil moist I'm a firm believer that MJ likes it's roots a little dry ... how old do you think the plant will be when the roots reach the soil tab ?

The Autos seedling tap roots are searching for moisture. From what I've read they are pretty resolve to finding any moisture. I'm not too worried at this seedling stage that the soil isn't too moist. An extra day of dryness will be fine. The tap root has already anchored the plant by the 1st week. I'd say by the end of the 2nd week the plant should be getting the benefits of the Tab. Nirvana's Soil/Flower Tabs are organic so there should be little chance of nutrient burn.

MJ indicas were 1st grown in the Afgan/India areas; pretty arid at times. Cannabis dosen't like wet soils at all. I'm with you. Keep them moist/dry.

I've often wondered if putting an air stone in the bottom of a pot would be a good idea ... not constant air flow but somewhere around 30 seconds per hour ... might even be a difference between dark & light time ... If the tabs don't burn them they will probably do incredibly well ...

Got me? I've heard of using an Air Stone to oxygenate the water to rid clorine. You'd have to pressurize/compress the air to get it to work?

Just watered the Girls this morning. 2L per container with at least a 20% runoff. The soil ph is comming out at ph 6.4. The Tabs are made to help buffer the soil. It's too earlly to tell untill the tabs start to decompose. So far so good. The Girls are going into the 2nd week of seedling stage and they seem to be doing well. Keeping a good air circulation; need to keep the SuperBox in the corner of the Den. It's running warm @ 86F (High) to 71F (Low).

The aquarium pump is a compressor. That's an interesting idea; I would think having that air flow might dry out the soil at a pretty fast rate though; wouldn't you think? Unless you set the pump to a timer like Chester was saying. Would like to see how that turns out! :stylez rasta smoke:

There ya go Chester. Try it out. You'll need to be extra careful that the soil may dry out faster. However, it may even out the wet spots soil gets at times.

Rather than an airstone having a type of drainage in the bottom 1/2" of the pot that allows for plenty of airflow might be just as good ... I often wonder if the bottoms of my pots become swampy and stagnant ... I generally just partially cover the drain holes but I can see where a layer of pebbles under a screen w/ the soil on top might be a good way to keep lots of O2 available to the roots.

I use SmartPots and keep them off the bottom of the SuperBox. With good air circulation they dry out evenlly. I use to put 1" of clean gravel on the bottom of the containers. That way there was some extra space the roots get some air. With the SmartPots I haven't needed to do this. The SmartPots breath pretty well. Will the roots search for moisture. Given them a good dry out will help the roots with more oxygen?
