Grow Room OS 24 Carat

I think the brown substance on the bottom of the res was particles of Thrive Alive. It's a really dark and thick additive and it's coming out of the bottle in chunks. I shook the container really well before I used it. I'll have to check with the mfg. to see if its OK. About half of the Sour Crack are up. I've got them in 400 ppm solution with sterilizer and enzymes under a Mars I 150W draw light. I don't know if I should begin flowering nutes. I'm not sure if all of the plants have stopped stretching.

Neko, How's sunny CA today? New England's nice for a change. It should get into the mid 60s. Bikini weather! :Aloha:

Hey jack. Sounds like your getting some good weather. Its been pretty warm over here. Its been in the low to high 70's. Perfect for outdoorsy type stuff. Cheers my brother from the other side of the pond ;-)

Defo get a compost tea, discontinue that stuff that is leaving that residue on the bottom of the res... how many air stones are you using in that container... how much water do you put in on a fresh rez change in gallons (i am american) LOL not good with liters In 12gallons of water i use 3 very large coke can style air stones

Hi Lyka, I have the compost tea and started a bag of it brewing. I came to the same conclusion about the Thrive Alive. I have two long airstones in the res. The res is 5 gal. US and I've been changing it at least once a week. Where do you get your airstones and how big an air pump are you running? Peace!

I wish I was metric! The math is so much easier.

I'm 36hrs into brewing the tea. I changed the water in the 12 site res with the multiple strains and added a pint of the tea. I don't know what type of nute soup I created on Friday but there was either something dropping out of solution or revenge of the brown slime part III. I had a thin coating of rusty looking sediment all over the inside of the res and larger patches of brown on it's bottom. Hopefully the tea will finally put the issue to bed.

I placed the Sour Crack seedlings into the old res in the new tent. That res is sterile. I'm not adding any of the suplimental nutes. I've got 1050 ppm of Boost, Bloom & Majical with beneficial bacteria, pHed to 5.7. The res with the seedlings has 550 ppm of ResClear, Boost, Bloom and Majical pHed to 5.6. Skunk Labs recommends starting with ResClear for 3 weeks then switching to Root Assist after. I'd guess you wait to add bacteria until there are enough roots for to live in.

:Grow & Show..:

Seems like you are on the right track, Me personally i don't use the res clear at all, i used to, but i just stick to the bennies. I top feed them once a day untill the roots hit the water. The res clear does work... i just prefer the tea myself. I use an Pond Master AP-60 pump, its way over kill for your 5 gallon container, 1 AP-60 pump powers 9 coke can air stones in 3 Res with 12 gallons in each. So thats 36 gallons being pushed by an AP-60 air pump.

http://growershouse.com/ecoplus-large-round-air-stone <--- them are the air stones i run.... really air stones are air stones they do 1 job...... I always keep extra thou cause say you order 10 stones right.... 1 of them is bound to be a dud. It just don't put out like the others.....

Also another tip.... when you are done with a dwc run.... BOIL your air stones for 20 min...... You don't want ANYTHING bad carrying over from 1 grow to another. I also soak my stones for 24 hours in an h202 + water mix before using them JUST to be on the safe side.

Hi Lyka, So you run tea from the beginning. I'll plan on running tea in both reses when I change them next week. I cleaned the air stones and then microwaved them to make sure there was nothing living in them but I am going to try boiling next time. Do you know if it's ok to boil stones with plastic fittings? I'm excited to see the Root Assist work my roots over. Any suggestions on what to do with powdered bacteria that comes with the tea bags? Thanks for the help!

Mine have plastic tips on them, when you touch them you can tell they are a bit "rugged" and not flimsy tips, never had an issue with boiling them, also air stones are relatively cheap. So if you had one go South on you its not a big deal.

Yes used the powder like this.. When my brew is ready to use..... I transfer it into a 1 gallon milk jug... add it to my res's at 1oz per gallon when i am done using it i store it in my fridge. 3 days later when i go to top off, i bring everything back up to where i want it, then before i go to re-add the tea I will just put a small dash of that powder into the gallon jug and shake... then re-add the tea to the rez. The powder REALLY isn't necessary its "supposed" to recharge the bennies in the tea, but they are still active and doing fine within that 10 day period of brewing (long as you keep it in the fridge). If i run out of the powder its a non-issue. I just use the tea as normal.
