So this mottling of leaves popped up relatively recently on at least two plants. At first glance using Waira's photo refernce as a guide it looks to me like a potential Calcium defiecency?

The PH on both these plants is fine (around 6.5). It has been *extremely* humid around my area and that might not be related, but I'm just throwing it out there.

Nutes I'm using are Bio-Bizz Grow and Bloom, and once every two weeks or so I switch things up with a feeding of Neptune's Harvest Fish Fertilizer. I'm also putting in supplements of CalMag about once a week.

Ok, I'll try to get a better angle next time I go out, but I do have this image. The issues are mostly with leaves toward the bottom and middle. So I circled the leaves where there is evidence of the brown spots. In this photo the top red circle represents the first photo I posted above which is the third node from the bottom approximately.

Hi Zig :)
If you look at the upper leaves, are you seeing any little yellow or brown spots? When I have a calcium issue, the spots quickly start on the upper/middle leaves.
To my eyes, the lower leaves look like they are a bit nute burned, and possibly splashed on early on. The rest of the plant looks happy, from your last pic :)
What calmag supplement are you using?
:pass:

I don't believe it's cal/mag def because that usually shows up towards the top of the plant. It's also common for some bottom leaves to yellow and dry up.If your using chem nutes make sure your PH is correct.I would keep giving veg nutes for awhile and start flower nutes if she is forming buds.I would remove those yellowed leaves. How often do you feed and what dosage are you using, what are the NPK numbers of the nutes?

Ok, I took some new photos to help figure this out, so the top growth looks pretty clean for the most part. Most of the issues are showing up on the bottom leaves and some middle.

I'm leaning towards this being a nute overdose problem I think? I'm using Biobizz with occasional Neptunes Fish Fertilizer.
This was my first feeding with the Bio-Bloom nutes (1-2-2) since these ladies had stopped vertical growth. I typically feed about once every 3 days and when I do it's about 2ml/l of the Bio-Grow (3-0-8) and 0.5 of General Organics CaMg+.

However, when I switched over to the Bio-Bloom I added 2ml/l on top of the Bio-Grow, I think that probably was a bit too much.

The holes you see in the leaves are not related, those are slug bites.

Mr. Zig'-- :pass:...lessee,...I remember this plant! Some of that damage is looks like from the physical battering it took, and the really pale crispy patches look like old stuff long since sealed off,... newer stuff, (DD), like the fine spotting, smacks of Ca, indeed,.... however, the spot color is really pale, almost white-?... not the usual red-brown to tan,...This can happen right where you're describing-- mid to lowers,.. Ca isn't totally immobile, so the plant can move a little around, slowly,... I do see the tip damage... yeah, likely a little nute burn, that's all,... are they getting kinda cool at night, BTW? Like 50F..?
... I'd try a full dose of that excellent CaMg+, maybe even a foliar spray, early in the day, in the shade,...nothing beats this for speedIng stuff in there! You have some water spreader/wetting agent on hand? Critical for effective foliar treatments,... an honest level 1tsp/qt on this.... I forget--how are you testing the soil pH, run-off, or quality soil probe?

Hey Waira,

So some responses to yer questions here:
  • "Are they getting kinda cool at night? Like 50F?"
Hmm, not quite as low as 50F, but in the mid 50s last week which is when I noticed the problems.

  • "I'd try a full dose of that excellent CaMg+, maybe even a foliar spray, early in the day, in the shade,...nothing beats this for speedIng stuff in there! You have some water spreader/wetting agent on hand?"
I gave them a shot of CaMG+ via foliar spray, I have some SM-90 to use as a wetting agent. Let's see how they do!

  • "I forget--how are you testing the soil pH, run-off, or quality soil probe?"
I'm using the trusty accurate8 soil probe.
