Most people in the US aren't really aware of all the video camera's being installed & operated by various LEO.
The goal in metropolitan areas is total coverage. That means that anywhere outdoors within the city limits on public thoroughfares you will be being recorded
The amount of resources it takes to do this is getting smaller and less expensive every year, giving LEO the ability to bring RB's Big Brother to us soon if not now.
And many have never even thought about that handy gps device that tells them in real time in whatever cute voice they choose is also storing that information.

Now I am of the mind, (not conspiratorially, but just as a matter of life) that most if not all electronic communication is already recorded, so this doesn't particularly alarm me.
However, I must say , If I am going somewhere cannabis related, I tend to take alternate routes that I know to be less video recorded.

I am curious how those of you in cities like London, with virtually 100% coverage feel about it, deal with it, etc.??

I dont mind any type of surveillance as long as its being used to prevent real crimes. If they were used to prevent murder, rape, robbery, and other actual crimes and not worried about drugs it would imo be a great thing for society.

In uk pretty much every inch of public property is covered by cctv cameras... i certainly feel safer walking about and make sure i keep my nose clean in public, although it's easily abused. We just had a cctv operater jailed for using the cameras to spy on some chick in her bedroom while she got out of the shower!

It doesn't really bother me as long as it helps deter crime. If you are law abideing citizen you don't have nothing to worry about.

You know, I just typed a long discourse on this subject then deleted it. This thread should end right here any now, its too politically charged and that’s a no no on AFN, and for good reason. I spent many years as a political activist and current events including public surveillance inflames my sensibilities.

I don't see any political bickering so far, just giving personal opinions of survalience cameras.I will get another opinion before I make the decision on removeing it.

I think the thread is okay so far brother; everyone has been pretty civil about it so far and I agree with namvet, doesn't seem to be any political bickering. We'll keep a watchful eye out though; you know and I know how threads can spin out of control by things taken out of context! Thanks for the heads up pop!

First person to start bringing politics will be hung by the nuts and thread will be closed.
