Hi @Waira my friend
Yes you are right , I am working on a true Orange project. I noticed over the time that most of the Orange strains got different undertones, like sour , chem , lemon and so on but it's not easy to find a true Orange. In the California Orange from DutchPassion the Orange terps are true , without any undertones. But the California Orange is a diva , she is so sensitive with nutrients or leaf tucking and so on , if you treat her like a modern strain you end up with hermi or the end product isn't the standard we aiming for.
The decision was clear make them better and work them out to stabilise true Orange strain that is on the same level like the modern strains. At the moment it's a photoperiod project but it's definitely a plan for the future to make a auto out of it.
This is exciting news mate! The last true/pure orange aroma I had was delivery purchase (more than a decade ago now

) of an amazing pheno of Agent Orange, it was uncanny orange candy... Even non-smoker friends, blind test sniffing, were blown away -

These guys, I figure grew a fat crop of several super fine cuts of SubCool stuff, became a legal "company", and ghosted out soon after because I never saw them again

LOL! ...they had a Vortex that was, to this day, one of the most intense rocket ride Sativa-type highs I've had to date...
Anyway, that AO was fabulous, great high with it too!
I've had a few batches of AO since but nothing close to the One....
Since then, the only cultivar that came close was Red Mandarine F1FV. Stem rubs were pure orange, oddly enough, but the buds carried a strong licorice aroma too...
I tried Fast Orange Cake last year, that should have been locked in but it wasn't even close...

- still pissed about that!
I grew one of DP's Orange Bud auto, was very nice but not orange
per se, more of a generic blend of citrus...
I wonder if Cali' Orange would be happiest OD's here in Cali', coastal central area...? Nice soil, organic nutes...
Your Orange Assault is usually on point/very close with aroma, isn't it?
The BlueCandy is one of our special cuts , in my area it's the one you can get the highest price for flowers. We tested the cut outdoors and indoors in different conditions with great results. To get the full terpen profile she needs 9 weeks on point , if you harvest her to early you don't have the terps that makes this cut special. I have done backcrosses to make a true cultivar out of the cut in regular seed form , we do different test crosses and also a fem run where we also pollinate some of our selected cuts we hold with the crew. I put much work in it over the last years so I paused working with the BlueCandy but maybe I create a autoflower in the future.
I like what I see here Tobe

She'd finish fine here I expect, and she's a reg' I'd be willing to try.
Last year, I got an heirloom cross from a forum friend called Nederland, very old Colorado heirloom with notorious skunk stank...Or at least should have, but guess what?! In that repro' of seeds, that aroma profile failed to carry over despite the efforts and skills of the breeder

(let's not even get started on true skunk-smell cultivars, what a joke that is these days!)
Anyway, I tried an early sex determining company out to get rid of the boyos early, which was worth it -
The BLR impressed me so much I talked to Meangean about the cross I made , I also asked if it's ok to him to work with the BLR and he is good with it. A real friendly guy I will definitely share some seeds back with.
At this other private forum I'm at, several peep's have grown BLR and made a lot of crosses with it, it's that good!
One guy is a mate of Gene's, he gets seeds very few others get with a no-repro' restrictions, but crosses are OK... Gene has some fantastic Lime cultivars for reals!
Thanks for doing a list Tobe, fingers crossed for me this OD season! Tent auto's are a done deal at least
