Update Feeding Chart for AF?

Nice to know as they’re not cheap but not super pricey either.

Ya man I buy a pack every other month or so I’ve been stocking up on them for about a year. I’ve got like 8 or so different strains.

Wish they did 3 packs or something. Everything is 6 packs minimum and roughly $100 so it definitely can be pricey to get a good variety of beans.

I’m running hlg 120’s at 12” away it’s not heat nor light stress. 800ppfd so I’m good there.

Hello my friend, just read your post and I’ll start out by saying that I’m by no means an expert and I’m barely halfway through my second grow with these “quantum boards” but I really think 12 inches is way too close... FOR AUTOS. I know many photo growers are using distances like 12 in with great success but many excellent growers on this very forum have kind of “proven” that autos can and do thrive with less light than photos. If you’re open to the suggestion I’d encourage you to raise your light by about 6 inches and see what effect if any results from that after 4-5 days. I truly believe your plants will be happier. Please don’t take this as me trying to be any kind of of know-it-all; I just believe that this advice will in fact improve things overall for your autos. Best of luck...

I was experiencing slight light stress at 1000 PPFD and dropped it to 800 PPFD at 12” and the light stress issue went away and this was well before I had any of these issues with my nutrients. Plants the same height so it’s definitely not the light distance. I’ve been growing with the QB’s for roughly 2 years now so I’ve got a good grip on them and when they’re to intense. It’s not so much about the distance as it is intensity. I appreciate the insight. I can’t get the height to change anyway because I’m in a 3’ box but I’m positive it’s not light issues. Don’t mean to sound like I’m discrediting what you’ve said it’s just I’ve been dealing with a lock out of nutes prior to over feeding. So I’m just very confident in the fact it’s nute/feeding issues. Again I appreciate the feedback!

No worries my man. I’m glad that you’re sure about the lights... one less thing for you to worry about! I made the suggestion based on me not being able go less than16in in flower on my last grow and seeing some “tacoing” on my current grow when my plants were about the 20-25 day mark and still had more than 24 inches from plants to light.. although the 550 is obviously a much stronger light source I do still have it dialed down right now... hopefully it all gets sorted out in a few short days! Cheers!

I’m hoping so as well! Do you have a lux meter for your lights yet?

No. Perhaps it might be something to consider if I come across an affordable unit that is also accurate. Haven’t looked into it but I don’t care to spend more than $100 on something like that. Have too many other places to spend my dollars at the moment.

They’re $30 on amazon. You take your x100 lux number and divide it by your lights conversion factor. On HLG’s website they have a list of lights and what conversion factor you use. But they’re all between 64-67. So you can use any number between 64-67 and be close enough to gauge what’s going on. So for example in my flower tent for my photos I’ve got (4) 96 elites and the conversion factor it 66.4.

So I’d take LUX/66.4 and get my PPFD

Here’s recommended PPFD’s for cannabis. It will change a tad for autos without a doubt but not much.

It’ll s be the light intensity column. PPFD is another way to say uMol/meter squared/ per second.

My experience is the same as yours, and it is good that you have raised this issue.
12" would fry my plants.
My plants are happiest when the light is much further away than the manufacturer recommends.
But light, temp, RH, etc all factor into this.

Thanks for the link. I’ll explore it a little further. All the talk I’ve read about lux meters was basically anything that isn’t a few hundred is garbage and not worth the investment so I’ve been dialing it in by my plants reaction. It would be nice to know where the true limits could be and test that against my plants reactions. Thanks again for the info!

I’ll nix that whole argument. HLG even says you can use the LUX meter apps on your phone and it’ll close enough. Cheap lux meters work just fine. I believe it’s the spectrometers that you have to spend at least a grand on for it to be worth a crap. There’s a guy on GC that has one and his lux numbers on his that he spent about 1,300 on were damn near spot on with the one I posted above.
