Update Feeding Chart for AF?

I’ll nix that whole argument. HLG even says you can use the LUX meter apps on your phone and it’ll close enough. Cheap lux meters work just fine. I believe it’s the spectrometers that you have to spend at least a grand on for it to be worth a crap. There’s a guy on GC that has one and his lux numbers on his that he spent about 1,300 on were damn near spot on with the one I posted above.
Awesome! Good to know! Gives me the confidence to perhaps pick one up very soon.

Ok, stupid newbie nutrient question.....

I've been reading around what other people are doing, I think I was feeding light. So I made up a 5 gallon batch: RO + 3.5g/gal MegaCrop, 1g/gal CMP, 1g/gal BE, 1g/gal Sweet Candy (plus 2ml dripclean) and it was 920ppm ~ 1.8EC. That seems crazy hot to me, but then I see people going up to 5g/g.

At day 47 now, various stages of buddage ranging from popcorn buds to just starting to bud. Coco/perlite, DTW.

I know medium and method have a lot to do with it.

When people talk about ppm's, is that base only?
When people multi-feed, do they generally reduce strength?

EC/ppm are crude estimates of how much we are feeding our plants, based on how concentrated ions are in solution.
For example, neither silver nor bromine are necessary elements, but dissolving silver bromide will cause ppm to rise.
It is a salt, which forms conductive ions in water solution.
Other nutrients might not form ions, and won't affect ppm. Sugar is in this category.
Greenleaf says nothing but Megacrop is needed, and that's what I do, except for some CalMag.
If anything else is used in addition to MC, its ppm affects the total, and must be taken into account.
1.8 EC would harm my plants.

I get the basics of ppm/conductivity.

I just can't reconcile the fact that I whipped up a batch loosely based on a few charts floating around (and yet still on the low end of what a bunch of people are feeding) and it was 1.8EC. I figured I must be missing something.

I've also struggled with that part @MMMi
I want to try to stay within the range suggested, but then if you start to show a deficiency (Cal for example) and supplement for it, all of a sudden your base becomes much hotter. Then what are you supposed to do with the regular nutes? Do the same and now you are at 1.8EC, risking potential lockout due to salt build up? Or should you reduce the nutes, and risk now causing a deficiency by not providing enough of the other nutrients?

It's a balancing act and I've yet to have a grow with no deficiencies, and nice green, healthy leaves all the way to harvest. That being said, I've still finished grows and come out the other side with some pretty sweet bud. But I aspire to get familiar enough with the nutrients and growing to have a healthy plant all the way through.

I add 1 gram (or 1 tsp for liquids) of base nutes or any supplement (such as CalMag), to a Gal of water to determine its ppm.
Then deduct that from base nutes if you don't want to increase total ppm.
Not over feeding, while using only base nutes and CalMag, (plus pH up/dn) will keep green healthy leaves until harvest.
Supplements can often do more harm than good.

Several have commented about supplments beyond Ca/Mg not being needed with MegaCrop. I and others on AFN, perhaps could even be majority (often seems that way), give some P-K supplementation in bloom. Many use Greenleaf's own Bud Explosion.

I switch around between using Canna PK 13/14 and Adv. Nutr. OverDrive (1-5-4), giving half the recommended dose with MC ver.2. Others may disagree, but I see little difference between any respectable manufacturer's basic P-K supplements. Other than there are 2 common supplement types -- an approx. 1:1 P-K ratio, such as 13/14; and an approx. 1:2 ratio, such a Bud Explosion being 19-39. More knowledgeable persons that I can hopefully comment whether these are functionally different or the same, such as if each type is a different formulation but the P and K available to the plant are the same.

I am currently running 2 plants in RDWC - each plant with it's own tote and reservoir.
Total volume for each is 35 Litres and I am running WAY lower than the feeding chart.

Details:

BCN Critical XXL DAY 22:
Megacrop 2.0: 12g
CalMag Pro: 6g
Sweet Candy: 4g

ppm(500 scale): 330
EC: 0.66

Dinafem Critical+2.0 DAY 22:
Megacrop 2.0: 16g
CalMag Pro: 8g
Sweet Candy: 4g

ppm(500 scale): 430
EC: 0.86

Recommended readings for this time-frame would be 1.1EC to 1.2EC and ppms of about 555-600
Recommended Megacrop would be 37g to 40g (and that would be JUST for the Megacrop)

Really happy with this :D

It’s not that I don’t want to increase total Ppm, I guess it’s more that as an inexperienced grower, it’s difficult to know how much is too much and how much is too little, and then when problems do arise. If you make changes, it could be more complicated then just add X nutrient, you may need to make sure to reduce or exclude nutrient Y.

Or maybe I’m just overthinking it.
