So im used to coco where i water everyday with nutes. With soil what are the basics with ph and how ofter to water and when do i use nutes?

I can't answer for all setups with soil it's a little different. What soil are you using and what nutrients are you going qith.

.I use pro mix. It is a soiled medium but some still call it soil. There's little to no starter nutes so I use plain water when needed usually every other day in small amounts til day 10. Then I give a 1/4 strength dose of advanced nutrients. I never ph because it's not needed with AN but if you using a line that's not ph balanced 6.2 - 6.5 is a good target range for your ph in SOIL. In a soiless medium comprised of say peatmoss. 6.0 5.8 range is great. I use my pot weights to see when they need water if I pick them up and they feel light I water. At first I start with .5 liters every other day. Then up to 1 liter so on and so on. I usually end up @ 1.5 liters every other day on small plants and 2 to 3 liters every other day with bigger ones. I like to run a wet dry cycle to pro.ote root health.

I also feed every watering but again it is pro mix and AN. I wouldn't advise that if your mixing a soil or buying one that's pre ferted

Well im about to do some tests coco vs soil. So i have used fox farm ocean forest in the past but i know thats a hot soil. Is pro mix a pretty reputable soil?
you water with nutes everyday with soil? I always thought every third watering.
im using flora nova by gh.

I hear alot of good thing's about an ph perfect line up ill have to give it a go.

With soil i know it needs to be at 6.5 for good growth. How do you get it to that before putting your seedling in? With coco you just pre charge it with cal mag.

I can only speak for pro mix and Advanced Nutrient.

Fill your pot with pro mix bx or HP

Wet soil in the middle about the size of a softball.

Place germinated bean in pro mix.

Plain water 10 days

Mix and feed advanced nutrients. (Choose a schedule there are several posted here and AN has on on their website)
.
Flush at finish.

Harvest hundreds of grams of pot.

It's very simular to coco with pro mix and AN. The difficulties begin when folks go organic and are mixing soils and admenments. Or use stuff like FFOF soil then try to feed later it can just get way out of whack until the grower dials things in. The pro mix AN combo is tested time and time again and even a beginner can pick it up, follow the outlines on the world class canna site and grow massive autos.

Yeee... Just water and root stim for a few weeks for me too. Depending on the soil and the plant, I pH between 6.1 and 6.5 at the mo, I do introduce them to a very weak dose veg of nutes at about week 3, then wait til they look hungry.

You've gotta think, as the roots are growing, they're finding more food in the soil...

Love the mud.. [emoji6]

You should go with a locally sourced soil. Kellogg's potting mix is my recommendation. They are a national brand that does an organic soil, and it is always mixed in your area. So it has the local microbes you need. It is also designed to work with local water too. These are very important traits. If you stick with a fully organic grow, you should not need to mess with the ph. It will contain all the nutrients you need for the first month. Then start hitting it each watering with a high quality liquid organic fertilizer. My recommendation would be Earth Juice or Fox Farm brand. I also love Kellogg's potting soil, because it is always course and fast draining. That air is crucial to fast growth. You can get it at HomeDepot and other big box stores, as well as nurseries.

You also get the benefit of zero need to flush if kept organic. Just stop adding fertilizer the last week of ripening. Earth Juice bloom 0-3-1 or Fox Farm big bloom liquid .01-.3-.7 would be perfect. The soil will have all the trace elements and nitrogen you need. You will need to use tap water also. The minerals in there are necessary for the soils microbes and the plant. Distilled or RO water will cause the soil to die. Same as brewing beer. It requires a hard water to feed the yeast minerals.

Be light on the watering. Soil can get compacted and deprived of oxygen easily, if abused. I would say about a cup of water every four days for the first two weeks. Then do a little more each time. No more than two waterings in a week. When they are large and in bloom. Then they will want water every day to three. It is about pot weight to gauge water content. If it fells heavy, do not add water. If it fells light, add water. Underwatering is better than over. Use caution with soil, and pour the water slowly. Try to think of it like the rain.
