Yes, that is exactly what I mean. Why am I here? Why have I decided, that at almost 50 years old, I now have a need to share the things that have been the most private of all things to me?

It is all very simple, yet complex.

When I went to college I had a class called ECE1 or Early Childhood Education. I am sure many of you have had this class. But one thing it touched on was mental phases of life. It absolutely concentrated on early childhood. But to put it into perspective, they did skirt over all of the phases we go through. Most of them happen early in life, but most of the important ones happen later in life. Which brings me to my point. It is called validity.

Validity, is where we start to "pre" reconcile (reconcile is the another phase). Basically, what it means, is as we get older, we start to think about all the things we have done in life. We start to question whether we have been worthy of the life we have been givin. We start to realize that we don't have forever to be good in life, or be successful, or be advisarial. So we kind of go into a panic about how we can do "good" before we "go".

One of the best ways to start to understand how we can make ourselves feel better about "giving back", is to share the knowledge we have learned. We know at this age that our knowledge has value, and if we can share that, then we feel more worthy.

Very few things are as satisfying as when someone uses your advice well, and gives it respect.

This is why Old Farts are in the business of handing out advice even when no one is asking for it, cuz we want to feel better. So next time when you are standing there listening some old dude yawning on about how he used to skin up an old coon, just remember you will be there someday spreading your crap around to someone who doesn't want to hear it.

So, why are you here?
please post

bye for now

Its a time in life when you can give back what you have absorbed over the years. And when you can do it anomalously then its easy on da mind...

What else are you good at besides MJ?

I'm very good at lead line fishing, but unwilling to share that with others... Ha ha no fishies for you guys, because I'm not going to tell you how easy it is to fill the boat with salmon and trout...lol...lol....lol

i remember when i first got here was just looking for help on my autos. i seen how well the mods handled all my questions and it inspired me to lend a word or too if ican give accurate knowledge.

First of all you should never stop lisening to older people, you still might learn somthing.I'm 66 years old and yes you do start thinking that your nearing the end and you start thinking of all the things good or bad that you have done over the years.I have made lots of mistakes over my years but I know that I did the best I could and can't take the bad parts away.Sure there are things I wish I should have done but its to late so I just except what I have now and take it day by day and hope when it's time for me to go it will be fast and without suffering. The last thing I don't want is to go to the old vets home and have someone changing my poopy pants, and feeding me like a baby, unless they have hot nurses and that would be alright.:nightdrag:

I came for help with growing - had no idea initially; couldn't have planted a seed if my life depended on it. Now I stay for the community - could have just lurked as a guest but this site is one of those rare cases where you really have to respect how nice and sharing and open everyone is, especially since the subject nature isn't universally accepted, or even legal. It's ubiquitous and innocuous, arguably and demonstratably beneficial, but polarizing and controversial. Despite that, this little island of positive vibes exists and helps struggling and frustrated people regardless of their nationality, primary language, or growing abilities. I'm very happy to be a part of that, and I'll contribute as much as I can to maintain the sites reputation as the most knowledgable repository of specialized horticultural information.

Outside of AFN, I sorta do the same thing - find interesting stuff, lend a hand, develope ideas and help others grow. Can't seem to find anything else that's as worthwhile.

Eek?maybe you can help me brain out... If the world wobbles on its axis how come all the water doesn't slush to one side?

I've never been part of a community in my life. Or wait. That sounds a lot sadder than it really is. I have never been part of a web community hadn't planned on ever joining one either as my humble personal opinion is that most people, especially in groups, are idiots. But when doing research for my first grow (which is well on its way, thank you very much) I stumbled across this forum. And fell in love. I haven't been very active, seem to be abit on the shy side which is totally the opposite of my irl personality. But you guys are so warm and knowledgable - it's like a drug about drugs - the perfect read on the toilet break or getting lost in a thread on the couch.

im here because i left my last forum there for security reasons, i was gutted yes i could of changed my name etc but it would not be the same , but had a wonder about all forums and this is the one i seemed to always come back to first off i normally grow autos so no brainer there , and secondly i noticed as i was lurking there was a nice mix of guys , all like minded and willing to answer the most obvious questions for new growers and have a bit of banter

im still a new grower as such and all ways learning so i find the forums great for info that i requir most times

And most of all i get to show off my girls where else or who else are you going to show your (knocked your pan in for ) plants , granted we get to smoke them

So in short im here to show off my lady's , lol , and meet a lot of nice like minded guys to share the knowlage of the green :peace:

Cres my friend,

The most obvious answer would be gravity. But, if you think about it, it will slosh around due to earthquakes caused by the pressure of techtonic plates due to the wobbling axis.

but I ain't bying that, Cuz I spit on a spinning top once, and it flung off at least ten feet.

So my answer would be, I dunno?

bye for now
