New Grower Worst-grower-ever tries Trans Siberian, Afghan Kush Ryder, and Northern Lights Blue Auto ;D

Quick update with pics during rez change, was able to get some better ones that weren't totally pink ;D

TS:

AKR:

akr1.jpgakr2.jpg

The TS shows some deficiencies here and there... Probably due to PH flux. this week... Bucket got a lot lower than I would have liked, not dry, but probably only a gallon of rez left.

Switched the TS over to bloom nutes.

The roots still have nasty slime on the top, that I rinse out each rez change. Doesn't seem to stop her from growing... at least not yet.

The AKR had good shape for minimal training, has about 4 branches at equal height with the main stem.

They are looking good.
I am not sure what the slime is, I have seen a lot stuff that people thought was rot and it was dead algae.
It does need to be removed as any decaying organic in hydro is a recipe for problems.
Rinsing it off in the most "convenient to You" manner is the best treatment for undiagnosed "slime".
I use a kitchen sink sprayer. I am not abusive to them, but I am not exactly gentle either.

Also, generally you should not let your rez go down that low anymore, you will usually need to add h20 once or twice between rez changes.

Thanks man!

I usually rinse her with the exact type of sprayer you describe, and it does OK, but a lot of the roots are still brown for some reason x_x

I will def start checking the level more frequently and top up with water. Thanks again :D

Fear and loathing in Animatey's garden of the indifferent universe....

Day 53 and the trans siberian shows no real signs of flowering... god damn it man... I dunno if she is still behind due to abuse, or a photo sensitive pheno, or if I fucked up and mislabled a rockwool cube.

Any of the above answers aren't great. I will eventually run out of time with that space... going out of town I can setup some automatic top ups, but that always scares me...

Anyways....

Here are a couple pics of her flowering sites, they haven't changes in a week or so:

She continues to fill in, but she doesn't seem to be moving on... In addition, I burned her AGAIN...

tsburnt.jpg

A week ago she went down in light hours to 18/6 down from 20/4... I don't really want to go lower than that, but man I am running out of options x__x.

The AKR is doing great for her very limited space:

Here she is at day 28, to get an idea of scale, she is sitting on a 2 gallon bucket. The leaves show a lot of signs of abuse, largely because they are all pressed against the inside of a bucket all day:

Back into the 1x1 tunnel of doom x_x

The tunnel recently got an upgrade to a TOP LED grow light:

Thanks for checking in, and good luck in your grows ;D

from what I can see, those plants have zero nute burn.
All the damage I see is from wet leaves that have been light burnt.
Happens alot with leafy plants in small places.
I run autos 24/0
If there is a remote chance you labeled it wrong and you may have a photo I would treaty it as a photo.
I have never had one auto not auto, I have had a few go pretty long before flowering but they all flowered and finished under 24/0
You could flip the lights down to 12/12, but I would wait until at least day 65.

I am usually pretty good about my labeling, so I think it is a TS... chances are low, but maybe... it could be a photo... just really unlikely.

Dude... ok sooooo I appreciate the diagnosis... If you are correct... You sort of just gave me an epiphany...

I always wondered why I couldn't ever get my LED's as close as everyone else, and I thought wtf? This makes sense, if it's like you say the magnifier effect.

But dude ok so like... Here is what is fucked up. My humidty reading in there has been sub 40% RH!!!! I was at 35% and finding moisture spots on the leaves. I go to great lengths to keep the whole house dry, but I guess I could have a bad meter... Or could I still get moisture on leaves with low humidity?

I tell you what else shit is crazy, I feel like a gallon of the bucket or more gets lost everyday...

Maybe she is drinking it, maybe the sump at 180gph constant 24/7 recirc is completely insane o_O

I figured the more movement the better... I keep an air pump with 4 outputs with 4 microphone shaped air stones 24/7 as well... (even lights off) I am pretty paranoid about rot from still water... though maybe I'm taking it a bit far... I dunno actually x_x

I am pretty sure that it's a TS in there. I am going to do like you said and wait until at least day 65. Thanks again a bunch man for checking in on my grow, you have really given me a huge help a number of times!

I've had that happen. Leaves touch and get wet, then the light burned them

So Grey Bear sort of solved a major problem of mine...

Or at least got me in the direction of solving it.

When I was growing a royal queen northern lights auto, she was very leafy. I noticed that I could not get my LED closer than 24 inches without what I thought was light burn. I used this as a sign that I couldn't get my LED's any closer than 24 inches.

I mean it was light burn... but it was caused by moisture on the leaves!

I have noticed it more and more this grow, maybe because these fuckers are so leafy...

So now I am solving this issue as best I can.

I increased the amount of air actually hitting the plant leaves by reorienting the 2 fans in the cabinet. They are now blowing almost vertically up through the canopy.

These seems to stop me from finding moisture on the leaves so far.

This issue seriously fucked up my growing ability. It confused me on more than 1 grow, and it doesn't show up on the net unless you know what you are looking for. Deficiencies are easy to figure out, there are a million pics on the net of what each one looks like and also, under feeding, over feeding, under watering, over watering, sure whatever, but what the fuck leaf sweating leading to a magnifier effect that cooks your leafs???? How would I ever search that shit or figure that out???

I just thought my LED's were cheap or fucked up or whatever (which they are admittedly cheap...). Everyone said when they got their LED's too close their plants got bleached, mine got fucking burnt into a crisp and I didn't understand why... until now... epiphany... frustrated and happy at the same time to finally get this figured out.

So humidity... I used another meter and the RH% is 40 and lower through the day/night so it's fine.

I have a couple of these which I stuff into the cabinet:

Eva-dry-E-500-Renewable-Wireless-Dehumidifer

They are pretty bad ass. I hang two of them in my 2x2 space and it drops the humidity significantly, especially when the humidity is high.

They are re-useable for 10 years (theoretically) and don't add any heat to the space they dehumidify. I usually have to plug them in about once every week to three weeks and they take about 12-16 hours to dry out.

If I hadn't posted this journal I would have continued on thinking I was light burning, or nute burning the plants having no idea... remaining confused and fucking up all my feeding/distance equations.... I think it's a prime example of why posting a journal on a site with knowledgeable ppl (like Grey Bear and the numerous others who have helped me) is a really good way to improve the plants you grow.

Anyways, a minor update :D

Good luck with your grows guys and gals ;D

It is why I constantly ask for pictures.
They can solve a lot of mysteries.

That one happens a lot to people growing in tight places.
Doesn't happen a lot in nature because of the variable nature of air movement.
