So Grey Bear sort of solved a major problem of mine...
Or at least got me in the direction of solving it.
When I was growing a royal queen northern lights auto, she was very leafy. I noticed that I could not get my LED closer than 24 inches without what I thought was light burn. I used this as a sign that I couldn't get my LED's any closer than 24 inches.
I mean it was light burn... but it was caused by moisture on the leaves!
I have noticed it more and more this grow, maybe because these fuckers are so leafy...
So now I am solving this issue as best I can.
I increased the amount of air actually hitting the plant leaves by reorienting the 2 fans in the cabinet. They are now blowing almost vertically up through the canopy.
These seems to stop me from finding moisture on the leaves so far.
This issue seriously fucked up my growing ability. It confused me on more than 1 grow, and it doesn't show up on the net unless you know what you are looking for. Deficiencies are easy to figure out, there are a million pics on the net of what each one looks like and also, under feeding, over feeding, under watering, over watering, sure whatever, but what the fuck leaf sweating leading to a magnifier effect that cooks your leafs???? How would I ever search that shit or figure that out???
I just thought my LED's were cheap or fucked up or whatever (which they are admittedly cheap...). Everyone said when they got their LED's too close their plants got bleached, mine got fucking burnt into a crisp and I didn't understand why... until now... epiphany... frustrated and happy at the same time to finally get this figured out.
So humidity... I used another meter and the RH% is 40 and lower through the day/night so it's fine.
I have a couple of these which I stuff into the cabinet:
Eva-dry-E-500-Renewable-Wireless-Dehumidifer
They are pretty bad ass. I hang two of them in my 2x2 space and it drops the humidity significantly, especially when the humidity is high.
They are re-useable for 10 years (theoretically) and don't add any heat to the space they dehumidify. I usually have to plug them in about once every week to three weeks and they take about 12-16 hours to dry out.
If I hadn't posted this journal I would have continued on thinking I was light burning, or nute burning the plants having no idea... remaining confused and fucking up all my feeding/distance equations.... I think it's a prime example of why posting a journal on a site with knowledgeable ppl (like Grey Bear and the numerous others who have helped me) is a really good way to improve the plants you grow.
Anyways, a minor update
Good luck with your grows guys and gals ;D
