hi all! wanted to run a poll. We are considering adding in EDTA chelated micro nutrients into Mega Crop. Micro nutrients are the smaller things like iron, copper, magnanese, zinc that plants use, but in low amounts

Currently we are using Amino Acid chelated micro nutrients, and they have a lot of great advantages, however we were considering also adding in EDTA ones, so both would be available for the plant to use. This could possibly allow for greater absorption in different conditions and environments.

So, it might look like 50 / 50 Amino Acid and EDTA split, or something like that. Interested to hear feedback!
 
I guess my question is- are people expressing micro uptake issues in certain setups/enviros? Or whats the cause of the poll? That said im not a chemist or biology major and tbh havent had issues that i know of. Im still dialing in 2.0, so i csnt say one way or the other if my minor issues are caused by lockouts or deficiencies. Most are calcium and mag related for me. I have noticed what could be slight iron issues but like i said could be related to cal/mag issues so until its dialed in....

@Greenleaf Nutrients to be honest that’s why I have $100’s of dollars of unused nutes left sitting here. Tried to get away from EDTA chelation. I switched to MC because the amino acid chelation. That being said I’ve had unreal success with the line so far and like it as is. V2 has been great so far as well too. Maybe an explanation of why the switch or thoughts of adding EDTA
 
Not a chemist or biologist..but, I have a good memory from some gardening classes at a local Ag. center.
please correct me if iam wrong.
EDTA is soluble in water, however is most soluble in water at 8.0 PH or higher. To get full benifits of EDTA chelated nutes, are we expected to have our mix at a PH of 8 to dissolve fully, then PH down?? also, when adding EDTA chelated nutes, you also of course increase salts.
 
Tell me more about EDTA chelation. Maybe I’ll be more open to it.
:smokeout: mates, have a look here, in the Reference section... there's some basic info about synthetic chelation agents in the Chelation article,.... I'd like to know as well about the "why" behind switching away from amino acid agents in favor of EDTA,... humic-fulvic does chelate as well, fulvic can even be brought directly into the plant and utilized,... I imagine it may be a stability thing, better across a broader pH range, or less (cross-)reactive and thus prone to loss of chelation?... less expensive?

I’ve looked and read but I’m not a nutrient expert so I was hoping they would explain in their terms and reasoning. Also it works so damn well and easy why add I see my plants don’t want the change lol I asked them last night.
