I've created the - AFN Free Potcoin Giveaway fund! -

Here's the idea, if you're already into crypto's, send some POT's to this fund so I can distribute to newcomers. You can post the tx hash if you want, or simply send anonymous and monitor. I'll be only using this Potcoin wallet for this purpose only and trying to get people into crypto's properly, in the end they'd send it to AFN. At any time, anyone, may ask for a CSV export to audit!

You dont even need a CSV, I will explain how you guys can monitor what I do with these Potcoin from a distance. Since the blockchain is a public ledger, I'll show you how to read a Blockchain Explorer and track the funds. Basic steps to ensure anonymity is understanding the blockchain VERY well.

Hopefully, there will be a constant loop of dust-donations and newcomers to keep this alive and going

Back-up your wallet.dat !!

Every crypto wallet has two components to it. The data directory, and the actual wallet software. The wallet software, usually referred to as the "QT" to differentiate from the linux daemon version, paper wallet, light wallet, etc - will always look for the data directory. Inside that directory there are a bunch of "system files", including your wallet.dat.

Wallet.dat is a file, and you should treat it like any word or excel document. That file contains ALL your send/receive addresses and ALL your transaction. So, you can get that file into a pen and go half-way around the planet, download the latest version of the Potcoin-QT wallet, import your wallet.dat, sync to the network, and all your funds will be there exactly like at home.

First thing to do is password protect your wallet.dat, backup and rename it so you don't forget/mix-up with others or what it is!

Give it a nice long password you'll never forget, print it out and file it safe. If you forget the password, bye bye funds! Once you type the password twice, the program will shut down. Simply re-open it.

Next backup. Backup only necessary once for the first 100 addresses. So rule of thumb, back-up sensibly once in a while, and make multiple copies and store them in different devices like pen drives in a safe, back-up HDD in a cupboard etc.

I will not discuss paper-wallets here as that is a more advanced operation. But essentially they are an individual address (not entire wallet!) that never touches the internet, create some codes and print them out to paper, lock them in a safe, and "send funds to it". Remember that crypto-currencies live in the blockchain. You merely possess the keys to unlock them.

Each address has a public and private key. You give out the public key to anyone, but keep secret the private key. Your wallet.dat is a collection of addresses that stores all your public and private keys, with one master password to lock/unlock them all up.

Give it a friendly name and location and save.

Keep it safe.

Even if in the future you create new addresses and get funded, the wallet will know for the first 100 address. This is called the keypool. Nevermind this ;) But or reference, after the first 100 receive addresses generated, you need to make another backup. Chances are very low though. You can have infinite send addresses, but first backup is only good for 100 receive-addresses.

*Important Notice*

You can call your backup wallet whatever you like, and have multiple wallets on one computer. You can only uses one wallet at a time though. When importing back, it can only be called "wallet.dat" - otherwise the QT fill not find it and will create a blank one.

Got to the Receive tab, select and copy the address I want to send to...

Go to the exchange where I bought the Potcoin

And withdrawal to my wallet's address

Withing seconds I receive the transaction in my wallet. But its not still confirmed. We need 6 confirmations from miners to be 100% sure this transaction is legit, and gain control to those funds. Bitcoin generates a block every 10 minutes, so this could take up to an hour with bitcoin. Potcoin issues a block every 40 second. Wow that is fast, cool ...

So since I wrote the last paragraph, I got 8 confirmations and now I have exactly 3860.74335866 POT under my exclusive possession.

So now that I have the funds on my side, I'm sending the first 3 addresses 100 POTs each as promised :tiphat:

I'm about 90000 from completion, here.. I've been looking at bitcoin purchase (******/CC) and its kind of... overwhelming.... Most want a photo of a govt ID, to prove who you are. I "get it", but is that really how it works?

You guys should see the transaction almost instantly. Let me know! Check your Transactions tab

Yes, because you need to fund it with EUR/USD, so you need to provide proof of identity that you own that credit card or bank account that is funding the exchange.

You can use localbitcoins.com to find someone near your that will sell you Bitcoin in person vs cash, Pay"crap"pal or bank transfer.

I've used WeSellCrypto.com before with success. Expensive, but gets the job done with Pay"crap"pal. (I used this for Darkcoin, for some reason they dont seem to have BTC)

Sell something on Ebay, or through a website, product or service... Or mining it, but nowadays its crazy to even try.

Once you have Bitcoins, you can move it around in such a way that it may never be linked back to your identity.
