Welcome to my Mephisto Grow. I've been excited to grow some mephisto genetics, finally have space available to get some seeds started.

My Equipment:
  • Growlab GL80L 2'7"x4'11"x6'7"
  • Mars Hydro 300w x 2(130w)
  • Quantum 600w ballast with Hortilux 600w HPS in a cheap air cooled hood
  • EBay no brand 6" inline fan with 8" Phresh Filter located in the attic(filter at exhaust for smell leaks(planning to add a 6" phresh filter in the tent for double smell removal))
  • EBay no brand 2'x2'x3' tent for drying(shared ventilation)

Planning to replace all the lights in here with Cree Cobs later this month. Summer heat is a concern with HPS, and I'm pushing for higher efficiency with these Cree Cobs(~350w Cree = 600w HPS). Probably DIY, but I may buy a premade fixture.
https://www.autoflower.org/threads/diy-mars-to-cree-cob-conversion.49689/

Medium and Nutes:
  • Coots recipe soil(1/3 peat moss, 1/3 perlite, 1/3 worm castings with mineral and ammendments kit from buildasoil.com, some seabird guano, kelp meal, espoma plant tone)
  • General Organics bottled nutes(Grow, Root, Bloom, Bud)
  • Self wicking perlite bed for lazy watering(holds ~20 gallons of water)(self filled by dehumidifier drain hose)
  • ~4gallon DIY smart pots. 8"x8"x14" square.
The plan is to outfit ~300w of Cree cxb3070s(3500k) in the center of the tent, and maybe 50-100w on each side(6500k,4000k). My perlite bed is 24"x56" internal demensions, so 21 pots should fit in here. Plan to start seeds on the sides and progressively move them inward to flower. Aiming for 2 plants a week or so, but I'm starting a little faster as I'm about to free up a bit of space. This is kind of a SoG perpetual grow, packing more plants in to increase overall yield. Makes sense to me when seeds are only $10 or less; it doesn't cost much more to grow more plants considering the value of increased yield.

Strains will be a little of everything. But I've got my eye on that Walter White when it's back in stock. For now, this is what seeds I have.

White Train(Day 16)
a little overwatered. Looked a little sad after her first feeding, half strength.

Heisenberg Special(Day 16)
much less sad from feeding.

ChemD x2 is next, then the sour blues, then maybe another seed order.

RQS Cheese, SS Big Devil XL, and 3x Dinafem Critical+. The Criticals are going to my closet where I have some RQS Special Queen and Kush passing 10 weeks in flower now. Ditching the RQ stuff and my closet is going to get a couple Dinafem/Sweet Seeds hybrid grows.

Want to run a good bit of Walter White in here when they're restocked. I want that frostiness for more oils/tinctures.(Also want a magic butter machine, been making my stuff in the crock pot)

I think I'm going to get a PLC Cree fixture. $750 for 340w of cxb3070s, should be equal to my 600w HPS currently. And I've got 2 more mars hydro 300w gutted, I'm going to go for 4x cxb2530 @ 110w per fixture. Going with 4000k to light the sides for more of a veg/seedling area. Total conversion for my 600w HPS and 850w of Mars LED to ~800w total Cree is costing $1300 and will save me $600 a year on electricity. With more overall light output.

Want to add a 4x4 tent and run the 600w HPS Vert and grow some tall photoperiods, but that's future endeavors lol.

And I want to get outside and start some grapevines this year. All this indoor gardening has branched into a new hobby for me.

Getting a little crowded in here. Hope I can get some space freed up or next week's seeds may be started in jiffy pellets alone.

New batch of soil mixed up. 30% peat, 30% worm castings, 40% perlite. Nutrient ammendment kit from build a soil added at 2cups per cubic foot of soil. Additional half cup of kelp meal per cu ft, and one quarter cup of Mexican bat guano(10-3-1) per cu ft. Soil mix is getting a bit warm, starting seeds this round in jiffy peat pellets directly in the pot. Should keep our seedlings happy and avoid transplanting.

Got about 4 more of these pots made, and enough fabric for another 8 or so. Have some 8" round smartpots 2gallon that I may use for the smaller strains. Looks like I'm only gonna fit 18 in here, my guesswork measuring skills has my pots coming in between 7-10" wide lol.

Leds came in. 2 more lights made. 110w, 16,000 lumens each, 4000k. Going on left and right side as our seedling/veg light. It feels good to be rid of the purple leds. God I hated those. HPS comes out later this week. A PLC CX300 is coming to replace that.

I'm buying some welding goggles for the future. My eyeballs hurt.

Heisenberg Special and White Train(Day 22)

HS looks great. Full strength feedings now.
IMAG1337.jpg

WT showing some burn maybe? Hot soil or didn't like the early feeding. Just the cotyledon leaves. Fed at full strength.
IMAG1338.jpg

White n Bubbly x2(Day 7) half strength feeding.(5mL Grow & Root per gallon)
IMAG1339.jpg

Heisenberg Special and White Train Round 2(Day 1) peeking up, covered them lightly and they should rise up fully by tomorrow.

Chemdogging x2(Day 0) in 50mm jumbo jiffy pellets. Bought these a while back in case I needed to start seeds with no space. Soils a bit hot so I'm gonna start them in the peat pellets like this.

Very crowded, probably gonna pull my photoperiods in my other tent next week, 7-8weeks flowering turns to 12+ weeks, some breeders are way off.... Should have plenty of space then.

Day 1 for Chemdogging x2

Space freed up and our new light has arrived. PLC cx300 Initial lux readings @ 18" height is a bit higher than my 600w HPS was before @ 24". Measured at canopy points. Heat is down 5℉ overall. right at 78℉ now with the exhaust fan cut to 50% power.

I saw your thread on the way you changed your LED lights.. are you using them all the way from veg thru flower? It looks like you are I am just verifying.

Yes. That center fixture is 340w of Cree cobs, 3500k. The two side ones are 110w each, 4000k. Seeds started on the outer rim and eventually end up under the center. Initial lux readings were 80,000 at flowering canopy levels, 60,000 around the veg area, and 40,000 where seeds start. Or about 1100 par center, 800 mid outer, 550 outer. Cheap lux meter though, so mainly just for an idea of how the light is getting distributed in the tent.

Pretty cool I have three of the Mars hydros (same as yours) I only grow three plants at a time. I am wondering if switching my lights to what you did would help me with yield and does it also lower the heat? I have a 4x4 could I also grow a few more plants by converting all 3 lights? Your thoughts or suggestions?
