Hi I'm new

Well if your reading this then you will be familiar with the super grows achieved by the likes of Master Tang and the King, but if your anything like me then you will have wondered what an average guy with less experience and new to LEDs can produce, anyways lets get to the interesting part now.

I'm growing some Dutch Passion, Think Different. With two Grow Northern Holographic Series 1's.

*Disclaimer* Its the first time I've grown from seed, its the first time i've grow using LED's and its the first time i'm going to try and grow with some new nutes/food in an attempt to lessen my carbon footprint and have a sustainable organic crop (ok this last bit is questionable)

Here's my home made tent, i think its about 1.5 x 1.2

Wish me luck

I will follow this :) will purchase the GN lights so will be interesting to see how they are performing :)

good luck :) :vibes:

Oh while I'm at it thought I would do a little review on the HS1 and GN customer service. GN are great, i spoke to them on the phone and via the web chat before and after i purchased and are always helpful.

I was very skeptical about the LEDs and most people I spoke to at grow shops etc told me they were a waste of time, but I just wanted to believe in these lights so am giving it a go. You can tell me I told you so if they don't work or tune in for the ride and keep hoping like me.

The biggest question I had was about the amount of Lumens, there's nothing on the data sheets, the best i found out was by going on Phillips website and looking at the 5w Rebel LED data and timesing it all with maths and shit to try and work it out, my maths is bad so in the end i rang GN and asked, my maths was right, the Lumens is low but the light is all dialed in with magical wizardry and nothing is wasted. Think of a lean steak compared to a beefburger, yeah they might both fill your belly but most of one is filled with shit.

Now here's a few photo's of the unit and the great packaging it comes in.

Very nice mate! :) I'm sure you'll rock this disco party!! :)

I had the previous GN Leds and consider myself very "average" lol. I never quite got the results that TaNg or the King got ... but i was always very pleased with the results (especially having gone through CFLs, HPS, and all sorts of soils, nutes etc.

I think the biggest factor to growing healthy plants is the "environment" - Keeping a good temp and reasonable humidty is a main factor - but then the more light the better and good air exchange, ph management, nute and genetics/phenos are all going to play a part in the yield.

Getting awesome lights is an awesome start to a (potentially) awesome grow! ^_^

I'm subbed and looking forward to seeing the show!
:d5:

Yay I'm famous lol

thanks for the support guys, I'm actually about two weeks in now, just been sweating about posting pictures and joining a "ganja" forum, still feeling a little paranoid, but what don't kill me will make me stronger right, right ? Guys ??

I'll post some more photos later, me and Barbie have got a valentine date to get ready for and don't want to keep here waiting much longer.

thanks again

Hello m8, always glad to see another hi tech grow!

The best advice I can offer on secure posting on AFN is to strip you pics of EXIF data and hide your IP address with a Virtual Proxy Network VPN. I personally also use a third party to host my images, I upload to Imgur then copy the pic link here.

Here's another guide to removing Exif Data from your pictures. (sorry the photos have dissapeared over time)

[h=2]Remove Exif Data From Camera Phone Pictures By A4[/h]
With recent news coming out in the States about several different agencies checking cellular phone data and spying on their citizens I have seen some questions about how much info pictures contain. I thought I would make a short tutorial on how to strip exif data from your pictures. Exif data for anyone unfamiliar with this, is metatags that are embedded in photos. This data could be as little as the ISO, image size, and things like this that aren't really a concern to you but it also may contain very important information such as GPS coordinates, name and such. This is even more prevalent in newer smart phones and cameras that are being used. So, it is always important to make sure you strip data from your pictures before posting them on the internet.

This tutorial was made using WIN7, if you are using another Windows release it should be about the same and if you can't figure it out you can always PM me with your OS and I will walk you through it. There are also free programs out there that will strip the data for you such as ExifTool which can be downloaded here -> http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/

So the first thing you want to do is locate your picture and right click on it.

From there, select properties and at the top of the Properties window you will select Details.

That will open up a new window. At that point make sure "Create a copy with all properties removed" is ticked and select OK.

At that point, you will have a copy of the picture with all data removed. You will be able to tell the first picture from the one with data removed as the latest one will say "Copy" in the file name. I always make a point of deleting the old picture with data in it so there are never any concerns in the future.

I hope this little tutorial helps you in your quest to stay safe on the internet. Remember, you are only as safe as the least safe person. Be careful who you talk to and share personal information with. You never know who is on the other side of that mouse!
