Hey all, I have a quick question. When it comes to watering, I don't trust my judgement yet with the "Lifting dry vs wet pot" method. For now, my greasy little finger has to do.

There's a boatload of advice on how deep I should finger the soil. I've seen everything from 1/2" to 1-1/2" and even a few suggestions that sounded creepily like a fisting that sent chills down my spine.

My question is, how deep can I go without damaging the roots? I've been going down to my big knuckle, but this still worries me. How deep do you go and is there a special spot you like to hit her at? (I've been staying close to the edge of the pot)

:DYou don't have to be that exact on finger depth. If it is dry a couple inches down and pot seems light she needs water. When they get bigger you might hit some roots closer to the top if you have a good root system.By then you should no by weight when to water.

I wouldn't stick my fingers in the dirt if it was me. On my last grow the roots covered the whole pot from just below the dirt to the bottom so if I had of done this then I would have damaged the roots as Namvet said. So the next time you water peck up the pot and feel the weight so you can judge it better when its dry trust me you can tell just takes a few tries.Cool:

Gotcha! I just watered today and I did pick them up before and after. After a few grows under my belt, I should gain a little more confidence!
