I've been a smoker for 27 years - pack a day - cigarettes for 22 years and cigarellos (Colts) for the last five.

Like most smokers - I fully realise the dangers and health impacts involved, and I've tried to quit on multiple occasions - nicorette gum and patches - but my near legendary lack of will power combined with a stressful job (emergency services) have co-conspired to ensure failure on each occasion.

My long time fishing pardner - a smoker of 35 years, and a fella I would have bet would never give up the habit - recently picked up an electronic cigarette - and dropped combustible smoking completely.

Two months ago - I purchased an Iolite vaporizer (I'll add a review in the "Smoking Accessory Review" section) - and I was intrigued - and impressed. I haven't lit bud since I purchased it.

So following my friend's lead - I purchased a electronic cigarette (an L-Rider Transformer) to give it a try.
Its 9 days now - and I haven't lit a cigar - even though I've been at work and worked those 9 days, something that has always contributed to my relapses in the past.

Truth is - I'm really digging it. Now - I know I'm still getting a nicotine dose, and I'm no closer to breaking that addiction than I was when I was smoking Colts - but I'm no longer breathing in tar, smoke - and the two-dozen-odd other chemicals that are contained in tobacco.
I'm also not getting the doses of nicotine that I was when I smoked - as it doesn't absorb as quickly or as efficiently into my blood in vapor form.

In addition - I'm not spending 10 bucks a day for a pack of Colts, either (which means better lights and more seeds down the road - ha ha!).
Subtract the cost of the electronic cigarette itself - and I'd bet I'm spending no more than a dollar a day (and probably less) on "e-juice" and replacement clearomizers.

Electronic cigarettes are a new thing to me - but I'm often a "day late" on new tech - and I'm wondering how many of you are e-cigarette users?

Is it working for you?
What are your favorite flavors of e-juice?
Are you finding any down-side?
Anybody try any of the recipes for adding "essence of bud" to their juice?

It has worked for me for the last 3 months and I smoked for 14 years.
Rainbow gum, fruit mix, sweet tarts.
The only down side is the over 300.00 a month Down to 40.00 a month which really isn't a down side.
Got a buddie that has been trying diffrent ways for a few months and he finaly got it down and and its seriously a couple hits and your good.

Nice one, Bgrow - its great to hear of other successes.

Any idea what your buddies recipe is?
I'm trying to get what I need together so I can whip up a batch when I get home from this three week shift.

Not too sure but I can have it for you in a few days.

That would be awesome, Bgrow - I appreciate that.

I've tracked down a few of recipes on the net - but many of them have mixed reviews, and it would be great to grab a tested method that produces good results.

Thanks again, Bgrow - I'll look forward to it.

KRPT-K-3.jpgKN-PROTANK-2.jpg This is the best thing i have done for my self in years , i'm about 2 months clean of cigarettes :Cushty:there's no going back for me ...i 'm vaping Boba's Bounty gorilla juice fruit punch and Cinnamon coffee....lip smacking good

Awesome to hear, CGR - congratulations!

I can't believe I hadn't heard about these things before now. I'm sitting in the living room of the crew house (none of the rest of the crew smoke) - typing on my lappy and hitting my vape full of Pink Spot Swagger (dark tobacco with a hint of vanilla).

Where the hell was this thing 20 years ago - ha ha!

Honestly, I've tried e-cigs on a few occasions. Mainly just the disposable ones, though. Needless to say, that bad boy was gone within a day, maybe less. I suppose it's because I was so intrigued with it and played around a bit haha. I'm always telling myself I need to quit...I hate that I smoke. How much is a weeks supply (minus the e-cig of course) of the cartridges?

Hey GP - I know exactly how you feel about smoking.
I hated the fact that I smoked, as well - but in a "love/hate" kinda way. I've known people that could take it or leave it - pick up a pack, smoke them - then drop it.

Nicotine has a far stronger hold on me than that (and I imagine it effects everyone a little differently) - when I've gone without I tend to fly into eye squinting, heart pounding rages (especially when driving) - have difficulty thinking clearly, and am anxious and overly keyed-up.

Pretty much a 180 degree from my usual - and I hated it more than I hated smoking.

I also hated the nicotine delivery systems I've tried in the past - I disliked the gums requirement that it be kept in the mouth and only chewed a couple of times to release a dose of nicotine - and the patch made my arm ache and gave me dreams crazy enough that it interfered with my sleep cycle.
Taking anti-depressants like Champix to quit smoking is a non-starter for me. I know people that its worked for - but I know people that have had some pretty bad reactions.

This e-cigarette is the bomb, though. I get a little nico - in the dose I want, at the time I want. It also satisfies the craving to "inhale smoke" - which sounds crazy if you aren't a smoker - but I'm betting you know exactly what I mean, GP!

I had also tried the disposable e-cigarette available where smokes are sold - and found it lacking in the extreme. I couldn't tell the difference between inhaling it's vapor and inhaling regular air. The unit I have now is as different from that as night is from day.

However - it looks nothing like a cigarette, and doesn't use cartridges (google "L-Rider Transformer" - and you'll find a few Utube reviews). It runs off a rechargeable 18650 battery (like an AA - but about 3X larger) - which will last a couple days before needing to be replaced with a spare, and uses a "clearomizer" or tank, to hold the e-juice. The unit also allows me to input the wattage it will run at - so I can run it to produce as much - or as little - vapor as I'd like.

The clearomizer I'm currently using is the CE5+ - which is disposable. I just changed out to my second one yesterday - so the first went 9 days, and they cost $CAN 4.50/each.
When I bought the unit, they told me a 10ml bottle of e-juice was the approximate equivalent of 5 packs of smokes - but my first 10ml lasted 7 days, so 5 packs seems a bit of an under estimate. 10ml cost me $CAN 4.30.

Pretty cost effective, as you can see.

Give one a try, GeorgiaPine - I would be very surprised if you were disappointed.

That's quite convincing. I totally know what you mean about quitting. I tried once, I went a whole week. But eventually I gave in, somehow persuading myself haha. The whole devil vs angel on my shoulder type thing.

Anyways, yeah that thing looks pretty bad ass. I've also read how it produces a lot of vapor, which I definitely need. I like to feel as if I'm smoking, sort of the reason as to why I couldn't get into the disposables. If i'm not mistaken they're only around $60? That's not bad at all. I think I'll definitely give it a shot this next paycheck, I'm really tired of spending all my damn money on cigs lol.
