I also was told heavy flower nutes will cause hard shells…..fooking tight rope act over here

No idea about heavy nutes, but have experienced hard seeds if left too long. Will usually pop a few out here and there towards the end and when you can't crush them with your fingers, harvest them. @Mossy probably can advise better on both aspects

:pighug: First time Daddy Syndrome....by the time you get to your 3rd..... they'll bring themselves up.........

Must admit I haven't heard the fert theory......I fert my expectant mother's exactly the same as the virgins...but I'm not a big ferter anyway.

Your seeds are ready when you put your hand up their skirts and feel their petticoats rustle........

Or...a touch feel thing. If the calyx is welded tight to the seed...they are not ready... when they are ready the calyx goes a bit baggy and the seed will pop out easily..:headbang:

How long did you have the male in....?....

First 3 photos...those Black tips reminds me of an old acquaintance......:dragon2:.....very Nice.........

Thanks auntie…. It was Stone who told me the excess flower ferts will cause a hard shell…. I checked yesterday, and the seeds are still tight to the calyx…. I only got rid of the male maybe 12 days ago or so…. :pass:

Well... I'd believe anything Stone told me...... ... he's had a lot more through his hands than most people....:d5:

I think it might just be down to optimum drying...the seed shell needs to Crack....if it is not properly dried it is a bit like wetting a leather jacket and trying to punch out of it.....

When I was having seed/germ problems years ago I bought a dehydrator and I think I over dried them....but you have the Cannatrol...with moisture controlled dehydration.......are you thinking of using that.....?

Yes, I was going to dry them as usual in the cannatrol, then into the grove bags, and I’ll “burp” those a little more than usual for a couple days…. Then should be good I’m thinking…

BTW...first photo of the link...about an inch down from the top bud...I see a girl that is starting to split the calyx...:headbang:....you start to see the seam/gap as they mature.
Lotsa visible seams!! I’m thinking they’ll be finished soon…. Most stone dragon cultivars finish in the 60-70 day window….and today is 59 :headbang:

He’s very smart, and humble. I feel lucky to call him my friend…

But how long was he in with the girls pollenating....?...this is a live and learn thing...for next time...

If you leave your male in pollenating with the females for say 10 days....your seeds will have a 10 day maturity difference from the first to the last...which is quite a long time in a seeds life time...so you will have mixed ripe and under ripe seed on the same plant...or even the same bud.

The optimum option is to have a mature male held somewhere else.... introduce the male for 24 -48 hour Maximum.

Then All of your seed will be mature within 24-48 hours of each other....if one is ready..they all are... :headbang: ...

Makes it easier .....:headbang:...

Also take the cultivar finish dates out...once the cross is seeded you count seed maturity time only....:headbang:...

(I'm tempted to say around 4 weeks under lights..but you know my set up...I don't count......)

Oh he was dropping pollen for weeks   I’ve collected a couple big vials of pollen for future projects…. I don’t have any good spots in this house, outside of the grow room, for a male to finish…. :pass:

If you get a male up to ball drop...chop him off at soil level....stick him in a glass of water..he will finish...

Stand the glass on some greaseproof paper...and it'll make an easy pollen drop.....
