Hydroton on the first inch of the cup then %80 coco %20 perlite. So far my 1gallon pots have formed solid root masses inside the pot with the very tips of roots popping out, I'm hoping for similar results, going to trim off all roots that poke out early on, if any.

I think that will work really well

If you haven't allready, think about how to keep that plant stable in the solo cup when it starts to get top heavy
