I wish I had found this forum a couple of months ago--a wealth of helpful information on autogrowing.

I'm in the midst of my first grow and posted a link for information in the New Growers Forum. I nice Mod, suggested it might get more play if I introduced myself here and cross posted here (see below).

I have a very small, but pretty ideal place for a small grow tent (60" x 36 x 20) in my furnace room. The chimney is unused, so I have it vented into the chimney with an inline fan and carbon filter. I'm using a California LightWorks Solar Flare 200 LED. My first grow is two Sweet Seeds +Speed (supposedly 49 days to harvest) in 5 gallon pots. Soil is FoxFarm Ocean Forest, I germinated the seeds with the paper towel/baggy method, and started the seeds in a solo cup. They have been on a 24 hour a day light regimen--although I've heard mixed review on this.

Based on what I've learned here, my next grow the seeds will go directly in the 5 gallon pots, I'm thinking a layered mix of Ocean Forest and Happy Frog with about 30 percent perlite.

Any advice is welcome.

Welcome to the AFN family Wings, glad you found us!

I will head over to your grow journal and check it out, sounds like you have a nice set up.

Peace!

Evening mate, Welcome to the site :tiphat:
When you say layered, do you mean actually layering different strength soils(on top of one another), or are you going t`mix different strengths and perlite evenly throughout the container? Cos for me the latter works better(although I normally start with seedling soil, in small/starter pot, then tier into final container with a slightly more potent fert content...then top up with nutes/ferts as and when required...), I believe(and it`s just my experience!) you want a consistent amount of food, throughout your medium, allowing a stress-free enviroment for your root system "My 2 cents"(I`m sure someone will disagree at some point though!) Anyhoo, I`ll try t`get over t`your grow soon(for an eyeball :check:) mate! All the best...:Sharing One:

Welcome to the site, dude. Glad to have you. Good luck with your grow.

Hey and Welcome!
Looks like you are off to a good start. I'll pop over to your journal after this. I'm glad you stopped by and introduced yourself, nice to meetcha! I am with krug, a good mix should do you right.
Peace and happy growing.

:welcome:......Glad you to have you!!!

Didn't know Wings had fans. Macca never did it for me (He is anti penguin) but each to their own.
Warmest welcomes, eP.

Welcome to the Family, Wings!

I'll head over to your grow in a bit. :tiphat:
I'm with Krug on the soil thing... if I want layers, I'll buy an onion.
Have you looked at the tier method yet? Some folks will germinate in a cup with a "tame" soil for seedlings, then place that into a hotter soil (final pot) that the more mature plant can handle.
Happy Growing, Wings! :peace:
