New Grower Help I'm still a noob!! DP 'Think Different' under LED... Hopefully.

Hey Hugo,

Cheers for checking in bud

Do you see the way they have changed shape from standing straight & upright to drooped over & a bit sorry for themselves. The leaves & the branches... Well pissed off, just one thing after another at the moment.
It's a learning curve I'll say that!!

Any advice welcome peeps.

The new growth is healthy kush, and that's important. It means that whatever you doing now is correct. The older leaves are history marks. They'll help you later to mark the ways your plants have been affected. As a rule of thumb I remove every leaf that's more than 50% affected, following Jorge Cervante's advice.

Ok, now two things:

First I wouldn't start adding new lights or any new gear (and nutes) that doesn't seem necessary at the moment. Since your low on the learning curve, like lots of us, it will help to keep it simple. When you put in alot of stuff together and something fails it's harder to figure out where the problem is coming from. You found about it the hard way.

Second, at what level of the pot is your water? If i'm correct Seymour bubbles the water from underneath to moisten the bottom of the pot, then forcing the roots to go search for water. More roots bigger grow. Maybe he can explain it a lil better how he does it. I would just keep on following his advice and let it roll dude. Do you have any idea the amount of info you are gathering with this grow?

Give them some time kush. Plants are great for stress releave :) and patience build eheh!

Hey AFN.. I hope all's good...

I fired up another light the other night... But I'm not sure they liked it too much!! I don't know... Maybe I'm over analysing everything but they always seemed to be standing to attention... Even when I hurt them last week but since the 3rd LED went on them they seemed to well... Exhale almost.. Branches that were at a 45 degree to the main stem suddenly just drooped!! & leaves that were horizontal to the light are now at a vertical angle?? So I've turned it off again & they seem to be straightening out again a little, I'm I talking sh/£ here or does anybody agree that they might shy away from too much light. Although they have gone onto adult food this week as well so that maybe something to do with it.. Also summer has finally hit at the same time as the extra light went on so maybe the heat has played a part... Who knows!! :)

I think growth has slowed again since they drooped as well so we'll see if turning off helps... Maybe just to intense yet??

Can somebody tell me what's up with my roots.. They don't seem too great either, not really growing thru the net pots much... I can see roots in there but they are just not coming out really, am I doing anything wrong?? I'm keeping my res depth up to the base of the pots at least... Wot you think guys?? U might think they are ok.. Tell me

What about the marks on the leaves as well?? They look different from last week.. Just like slightly paler patches on olderish growth, new growth seems unaffected.... Hope its not much to worry about, maybe Nitrogen def??

What you think guys... They seem a little on the small side for 16 days like.

Good advice by Hugo there :] Let it grow a little longer and see how it recovers. If it looks like there is truly no hope left for it in the end, then just deroot it and replant :]

Alright people's...

Ok so this is how it stands... I've been a complete noob & have really stunted my plants growth with one thing or another & I was seriously thinking about pulling them.
A couple of things that I've bollocks up:
Rapid res temp rises = PH swing = sick plant,
Water level too high in res=roots won't bother there arse growing thru net pots.= small assed plants

Really though the amount that I have learned in the 3 weeks I've been at this & from you guys has made me stop & think.. What I should now be concentrating on is trying to keep them healthy & bringing thru to harvest, not worry about the weight of the harvest... Just getting any sort of a harvest will be fantastic.. I mean what else is your very first ever grow going to be but a learning grow.

Anyway on with the update

Here's some pics at day 20... Don't laugh...

Oh yeah & SHE has some of these...ImageUploadedByTapatalk1338116112.259436.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1338116125.419278.jpg

Anyway folks that girl there looks a little paler than the other.... What's could I use to give her extra nitrogen?? All I have that I think I can use is sensical grow.. 4-0-0, & if I can use that... Can I just add some to my res midweek if I think they need it?
Also my EC levels havn't really moved at all... All week, so I was wondering should I not up the EC much on the next change? Or maybe give them slightly more sensical grow to up nitrogen content slightly, A dude on here told me that the ionic grow nutes im using possibly are a bit on the weak side so... What you think guys..

Any help appreciated.....

No res update at the mo coz nothing's changed in the past 5 days apart very slight fluctuations in ph but I now think I'm getting My shizz together on that front.
Water is bubbling for tomorrows res change so not much to say there.

Oh & thanks Hugo for your welcome input.

You to Billy Wu.

& Seymour Buds.... obviously.

Your welcome, it's a pleasure to see a fellow grower going over obstacles successively.

I don't think there's much paleness there. I would sit tight and wait until the new feed schedule. Seymour obviously reads the plants very well and can advise you on DWC. I'm a soil dude myself.

Happy growing Kush

Making a much better recovery :D Those new leaves look a lot better! Also pistils, glad to see she's female :]

Those top leaves aren't looking too pale, they're new. I can't advise stuff for extra nitrogen, but Seymour used SensiCal like you were suggesting. Perhaps the other forum members or Seymour can help you with it:toke:
Trust me man, you're doing good for a first grow in hydroponics. Hydro is really difficult to keep at optimal conditions, but it seems you've got it sorted now. Well done man

Thanks Dudes, that's give me a wee boost :dance2:

I havent read this thread in depth but ill add mt 2 cents in dwc as the roots grow down into the res you should drop the level a little to give the roots an air gap say half the roots in solution and half not this allows more o2 and gives an aeroponic root zone also i know a few years back alot of people found ionic a bit hit and miss a quality A+B formula in the future would be better or green dream 1 part i found quite good its a 2part in 1 bottle and has to be shake before use

also always add plenty of aeration dissolved o2 is relative to res temps also an enzyme product or a H2o2 product may help your issues but only choose 1 as they react to each other ph swing can be an early sign of root rot due to res temps and you never get rid of it

Hey AFN hope all well in weed world.

Quick update.. Day 24..

Ok then, just about everything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong for me on this.. My first ever grow.

Ph swing,
Temp issues tent & res,
Roots not growing into res from net baskets,
Overdoing it with the lights
Yada Yada.

I tell you guys I have learned some this last three weeks... But these are the trials a novice goes through to become competent.. then eventually.. a master ha ha.

So I changed the res the on Monday night & dropped the depth of to an inch or two below the bottom of the net basket to encourage some roots down ffs & it seems to be working.
The res consists of..

Rhizotonic
Silicon
Cannazym
Superthrive
Sensical
Ionic grow

ec 1.2 ph 5.7-5.8

Ha ha the cannazym has dispatched of the one of the tap roots & is busy munching through the other as well... So they mustn't have been to healthy Lolz but I have to say now they are now finally starting to come down, the roots & plant are a good week behind a healthy Think Diff grow of the same timescale... Check out my man Billy Wu up here.. One word....beast lol.
