Hey, I'm Natsu Dragneel, I'm a Fairy Tail wizard and this is my first grow. I live in a rural area in Sk. Canada and I'm growing for medical purposes. I'm happy I found AFN and I can't wait to participate in future solo cup grows and other competitions as well. The strains I'm growing are 3 Afghani Kush and 1 Purple Widow. Nutrients and soil I'm using are Humboldts Secret(BaseA&B, Sweet&Sticky, Flower Stacker, Golden Tree), compost tea from Botanicare and Cal/Mag from general organics(I was going to use G.O. before I found H.S.), mycorrhiza and Gia Green Living Soil. My set up is a 2.5'x2.5'x5' grow tent and a 400 watt full spectrum LED grow light with veg/flower. I see what I think is a zinc def. so I'll search around for more info and if necessary I'll post more details and pics in the Infirmary tonight as I want to keep thread this a introduction. I'll link that here if I post it. The two in the bottom row and the small one are the Afghani Kush and the one in the top corner next to the small one is the Purple Widow. Ill get a grow journal up in the next few days and link that as well. Long post haha. Thanks AFN!

I'm surprised that you don't get root rot by putting them in Home Depot buckets did you drill holes on the bottom?

I'm surprised that you don't get root rot by putting them in Home Depot buckets did you drill holes on the bottom?

I drilled lots of holes in the bottom and a few on the sides, I tried to get 3 gallon smart pots but my hydro store was out of them and I didn't want to have to order them. I'm short a few inches of soil too, but I don't think there's anything I can do that at this point.

I stopped mixing and matching my own nutrients a long time ago when I learned about Liebig's Law of The Minimums. I have had way fewer problems with deficiencies since then. All of the better nutrient companies have spent millions developing nutrients designed to work together and stay in balance. It really makes sense to leverage all of that practical knowledge.

The reason I have the cal mag from G.O. and the tea is because I tried to start some seeds a few months ago, I got them from a local head shop, but they must have been old stock or something cause not one of them germinated. I haven't used them with the H.S. and I don't really plan on it unless I run into a cal/mag def, I just wanted to mention them anyway. I did use some of the tea before I got the H.S. though. There's already many things I will be doing differently in my next grow. Also, I found your 6 ton rosin press tutorial on here a few months ago, it was that thread the got me here, and I definitely want to make one of those in the future, great tutorial man.

I am glad you found the rosin press thread useful. Since I started using the chocolate meds I make with the rosin from that press I have pretty much stopped making any other types of edibles. The chocolates just work! I hope that information goes viral some day and it helps the masses.
