Lighting KIND K3 DIY Retro Build

No, you can't double the drivers. Technically possible, but inadvisable, these are not simple transformers, there are complex electronics in them. Or every Chinese light ever made would do it to save 2 cents......
Yeah don't want to have my fixture catch aflame. Thanks for the heads up. Well I explore all avenues some good some bad. Hopefully people can learn from any mistakes I make along the way. I do have a driver coming Tuesday incase these didn't work or weren't strong enough to make any difference.

Id give the drivers a try and see. If not your meanwell will power 3 cobs and you have decent drivers to power some 3590's down the road.

He can run one cob per driver. He'll probably be closer to 500ma than 650ma, so he'd be right at about 50V.

And yeah, you could try it, just don't toast your chips...lol! I have asked the same question, and I gave you the answer I got. I'd probably try it too, with a fire extinguisher handy!

It won't fry them I have tried plenty of times to run things with underpowered drivers. Sometimes it just doesn't work and others it surprised me when it illuminates the room. Recently I picked up some 3590's and didn't even notice they were 72v. Could t figure out for the life of me why they didn't work.

I'm going to need that fire extinguisher for my head because all these numbers are going to make it catch on fire!

I understand really. I'm just very cautious, I've been poking screwdrivers and such into electronic devices starting with black and white tv's when I was eleven, get you a little 20,000-30,000 volt jolt a time or too, you learn respect! So I'm really not trying to be a party pooper, I just want people to be careful when working with anything electrical. I have a GFI outlet on a lead cord, all my testing is done connected to that.

I've seen 2 people die, in horrible, industrial accidents. I've been a safety advocate every since.

now I'll shut up lol!

Never a party pooper when it comes to safety. This is why we have these discussions right? To point out the thing to do and not to do. It's terrific for the beginner and thanks for your caution.

I agree. Pop22 I haven't been around here long enough to share woman with you but I can tell you know your stuff.

Now even though gfci receptacles can be a pain in the ass I too have the safety of an inline gfci for those not so sure times.

For what it's worth, If you don't want to mess around with installing GFCI outlets or don't have one already wired handy you can get extension cords with them. Usually shorter cords with three outlet blocks on 'em that I've seen coming with them at the local hardware store.
