Lighting LED only thread (the manual)

H everyone!, I'm really novice in indoor growing, and started with LED right from scratch. Lots of good arguments in here, nice thread. I have a Blackstar 135 W and have grown two medium sized plants with a low yield (less than 1 oz.) but I think its just me being unexperienced! My grow space may be a little big for a 135W (2X2) although the Lighthouse Hydro web site states its OK. It may be that I haven't used it at the correct height, 'cause I've seen a lot of stretching in my plants.
Now, I'm going for a new grow, with a DP Think Different... but I've added an 85W CFL so I'm cheating! LOL

Anyway guys, the BS 135W is a great lamp, has small vents, is very friendly for inexperienced users, fairly cheap and economic for your electricity bills! and should do OK for two plants in a 1 to 2 sq feet.

hey doc! i have a 135w blackstar and it will grow one plant to a four oz. yield level, so two plan't you may get two oz yield level. but if you supplement with cfl's you can increase yield. the 135w blackstar is a great one plant light!:2cents:

Thanks bro!

Anyone here - I'm looking for any serious reading material for understanding the use of LEDs in growing. If anyone knows of a text of website that has detailed information about everything from construction to spectrum etc. I would love to hear about it.

Iv only seen 1-2 members attempt to build there own LEDs mate, they usually just buy them..you will find what your looking for on the net though it will just take some digging.

I'm not looking to build a panel (except for fun) but understanding this material will lead to much better consumer decisions. I'm trying to understand construction enough to figure out who made the best decisions with their own construction. I also want to understand wavelengths better. I love tech and the LED ride is just starting.

I think Lowbudge mad his own LED for micro growing ..That would be the way to go starting out.."micro"then you can test spectrum and power and your build quality before spending money on a bigger project.:smokebuds:..heat is the LED killer ! Good luck!:tiphat:

Grew this pure Sativa photperiod Dr.Grinspoon under a DP LED.
I gave away all my MH/HPS equipment.
