I have been putting this off for a long time. When you live in California low flow faucets are a way of life. I understand the need but............. So the kitchen sink faucet is so low flow it cannot lift the sand in the line and evidently it created its own sand filter. The Hot water flow became intolerable. Thinking something was caught in the under-sink shut-off valve I started there. Nope must be the line from the valve to the mixer connection. Yes it we full of plastic shavings? Maybe something from the deterioration of the old hot water heater? Replace with a new line. Still no flow. The next stop is the mixer valve. I really do not want to have to pull that fixture. I am too old for that shit. So I decide to use compressed air backwards through the pipe with the valve on the hot water side; that plug of sand came out like a shot. This fixed it. I hate plumbing. Obviously I hate not having pressure on the hot water side more!
