Not here.. ...all the straw germinates..I used straw bales to make a temporary cold frame... first rain... I had a wheat field....

The barley straw mulch from build a soil will occasionally have 1 sprout but for most part it just does its job as a mulch layer!

I have a huge tote on a pallet, filled with feed barley. Neighbors occasionally grow barley in the field next to our property. I think they just planted it to alfalfa, tho.
