Woman Grows A Potato Inside Her Vagina In An Attempt At Birth Control

A young woman in Colombia grew a potato inside her vagina after attempting to use it as a form of contraception.
Yes, a potato.

Apparently the woefully misinformed 22-year-old was told by her mother that a potato placed inside the vagina was a successful method of birth control.

Yes, her mother.

Her mistake was spotted when she visited a clinic complaining of abdominal pains and a nurse found roots emerging from her vagina.

After two weeks, the potato had begun to germinate and grow roots.

Thankfully, the offending spud was removed and the woman has not suffered any lasting effects.

But the fact that this happened in the first place does call in to question the hilarious, dangerous and downright ridiculous contraception myths that are still being told to naïve young people.



The weird thing is she had it insider her for two weeks as a means to stop her getting pregnant.
The question I ask is in order for her to do this she must have been sexually active and if this was the case, why had no one noticed.
Seriously, I would have noticed banging up against a potato.

Ohh wowww. I thought I had heard all the myths, but a potato up the vag is new to me lol. It's really sad, aside from being slightly hilarious, but mostly sad... That there's parts of the world so backwards that proper sex education and control isn't available :/ I saw some sidebar news piece somewhere that mentioned that one of the main reasons, all jokes aside, that aids is such a problem in parts of Africa is because the available condoms don't fit. Yikes!
 
By the way, how much lols would it be to have been a fly on the wall of that doctors visit haha! It probably went like:

She: "Hi doc, I've been having some abdominal pains..."
Doc: "Ok well sit back and let's have a look... Wait a second, there's some roots or something... HOLY ****!!! There's a.. Potato!! We gotta get that outta there!"
She: "Well yeah, my mom said to put a potato in there and I won't get pregnant."
Doc: "Oh dear girl, it doesn't work that way, and you can't keep live items up there."
She: "Ohhh okay. Well thanks, the pain is gone now."
