New Grower New to growing have a cfl lighting question

Hey Phil, 8 packs of those wouldn't equal 800 true watts but it should suffice for 5 plants :smokebuds:

I use the wally world cfls also. Its my understanding that for each plant when dealing with cfls you generally want 3000-5000 lumens per plant in veg. And 7000-10000 lumens per plant flower. IMHO I don't think that 8 cfls is anywhere near enough light for 5 plants.

Hey there Phil. The cfls at Wally World are just fine. There are different watts and spectrums to look for. The more obvious number will be the "equivalent" wattage, but not the actual wattage. It's generally smaller in size printed off to the side, but should be easy to spot. Usually run in watts of 13, 23, 32 from what I have seen. Get daylight(6500K) bulbs for veg and warm/soft white(2700K) for flowering. Either will work all the way through, but the more specific the better I say. You can also do a mixed spectrum of bulbs from start to finish as well.

I believe the 100 watt equivalent ones you speak of are actually 23. I could be wrong. Either way I don't think 8 are going to be enough for 5 plants. That would get them through veg stage, but once they get bigger and go into full flower, I think you'll need some more light. Hope this helps. :D

hey everyone looking to get some advice on these cfls i found at walmart want to know if i get 8 of these that would put me at 800watts i will be growing 5 plants for my indoor grow it says lumens is 1600 looking for lights for seed to harvest

You would be better of getting the 200 watt equiv bulbs,If walmart doesn't have them check home depot, menards,or another home improvement center

thanks for all the great feed back i can add more lights for the flowering those lights i posted up earlier come in a pack of 4 how many packs would i need for the veg of 5 plants all autos ofcourse

In my research, and I may be wrong, but the best wattage to lumens ratio (if using cfls) is the 100 equivalent/23 actual bulbs. I am using 16 of those in my veg room, and 32 of those in my flower room For 4 plants in each room.

002.jpgThis is the light i used on my last grow.

I believe you are correct. Everyone has their preference I suppose, but more smaller wattage bulbs are better than one or two bigger ones. Nammy's light he made is pretty sweet, I have always liked it and the idea. What size are those bulbs, Nam?

He has got a pretty sweet setup, looks like a boat load of 23 actual watt and a few 150 watt maybe?
