I think I was right.. Hehe! They are turning green. It's a weed and it want's to grow! Deep water culture can be a real son of a bitch. One is left with, 'Just exactly how much nutrients do my young plants need in PH'd water all by themselves'.. I think may be the short answer is, 'Not much'.

Day 16
Day 16. The SLF-100 seems to be working to combat the algae. The feed looks clear and there isn't algae on the bottom of the res. Most of the roots are still dirty looking. I'll rinse them this weekend when I change the res.
I've dumped the controller and secondary res. I'm going to clean them with salt and dish soap (thanks Gray Bear!) and wait to use them once the plants start drinking so I get more flow through them.
I've decided that when I start the controller back up I'm going to reduce the flow from the pump and try 24 hr circulation. My float valve does not let enough water pass to run the pump at full speed so I'm going to try using a 1/2 gal per hour inline dripper. That should recirculate the system 1.33 times a day. Hopefully that will do it.

You dont have to worry to much about the males. So long as you dont let them fully flower out. You will notice something unusual..The sacs are pretty stand out. You dont miss it. One morning you will check and see this ball sticking straight out off the side of the stalk.

Thanks elsamurai, Res is clean. I'm guessing here but I think the Kerrick valve is designed to be drilled out. I enlarged the hole in the float valve that controls the amount of fluid the valve can pass. The factory diameter was about the the size of paper clip wire. I drilled it out to 3/16". I've got to give it a test run. The valve had clogged with algae. Hopefully the fix will allow enough circulation to keep the algae at bay.
