Hello .... I am currently growing in soil and have app 60 days or so left on my grow and I am looking to get started with hydroponics when this run is completed. I have decided to go with a DWC system to start with and my main start up questions are concerning nutrients regiments and getting started. I currently use Advanced Nutrients GMB but would like to know what if anything I need to look into adding to them when switching to hydro.
Also getting started I have researched ppm and e.c the whole 9 yards but what Ido not comprehend completely is getting started...... say I have a 6 gal reservoir with 2 plants as seedlings starting out ... say the res is filled with r.o water which I have unlimited access too how do I go about mixing the proper strength nutes to add to res..... for instance say feeding reg recommends 2ml/L ... is that 2ml for every L in my res?

I know I'm confused I see people on YouTube mixing in a bucket to 1100ppm or so then adding to larger res and that's what's throwing me off

If this is confusing a all thrown together it's bc that's the way it is in my head at the moment just reply with any question you need to help and I will send a speedyeresponse

No, grow, micro, bloom is all you need, along with Hygrozyme or H2O2. I would go alot lighter than 1/4 strength starting out. Hydro is different than soil. Soil buffers alot, where dwc is equal to taking coffee and taking it straight in the arm with a needle!
I too am a die hard soil grower and will start my dwc adventure in a month. There are some great hydro guys here that will get you sorted. Here is a great video, that helps the process, its has alot of parts to it, buty may help you get the gist of it....

Thanks briman I will def watch the video and hundreds more I have came across lol good luck on your new DWC adventures

briman is correct, keep it real simple for your first couple of dwc grows, by the end of the 2nd or third grow you should feel pretty confident about what is going on.
Just keep a decent journal and if no one chimes in, ask a me or bri to poke our heads in and look.
I for one, dont mind a nudge, as i tend to lookin the direction of whatever catches my eye.

ThAnks the videos series on YouTube he suggested have already helped to clear things up a bit I appreciate the feedback

Cheapest way is 5 gallon buckets, air pump and air stones. 5 gallon tops with 8" net pots built in. I use the 2 liter frozen bottle method to keep my rez cool but I recommend a chiller if you can afford it. Current Culture has some great DWC stuff also. Here is a link

Not sure what your budget is. I use General Hydroponic Flora Series It's a 3 part nutrient solution. Grow Micro and Bloom. Then some Floralicious Plus the last 4 weeks of flowering. I use 1/2 the recommend amount and I also use UC Roots. This stuff is the BOMB! My plants are so healthy. Good Luck.

Thanks for your input I have def decided to go 5 gal bucket and I'm gonna add a few things to my existing GMB I use in soil

first time growing autos. just got some red poison autos from sweet seeds. and i really could use your help bud. i also use GH 3 part and i am lost as to how i should feed the nutes? as per bottle , 1/2 or 1/4 stregth. how long and so on. if you could plz get back to me you would rock my world lol. i am not new to growing meds but have not been able to find any exact info on feeding my red poisons. i am running dwc hydro.

Dragon if he doesn't get back to you on this thread I would try a private message

No problem Here is a picture of my feeding chart. I use 1/2 of the recommended amount and measure for 4 gallons of water cause it's about a gallon subtracted for the netpot. I am using 5 gallon buckets. Just take the length of your auto's life which is about 9 to 12 weeks and breakdown the steps on the feeding chart to coincide with your auto's life cycle. Most nute feeding charts are for photo plants. You just have to improvise the feeding and take care of your girls. When topping off your rez just use plain water and ph after you added the water to your rez. I don't get all caught up in the PPM and all that other stuff. I K.I.S.S.(keep it simple stupid) I use a vile for the water and a 3 drop solution and look at the color. I keep my PH between 5.7 and 6 and it is consistent. Also for the last 4 weeks you want to use some GH Florolicious Plus. Very little but use it. I also use UC roots. I use this until the last week of flowering. Here is my current grow. The last post on the first page has a picture of my nutes I am using. https://www.autoflower.org/f61/grow-2-journal-jock-horror-bubblelicious-38286.html. And these are photos not autos cause gnats got to my autos when I started the thread. I got clones from a friend. They are a miscellaneous indica and a purple kush.

Here was my first grow. I used a tote for it. https://www.autoflower.org/f61/hi-all-my-first-af-grow-37161.html
Any other questions just ask away. I am more than happy to help!

This is what I would do for a 11 week grow

Seedling 1 week
Mild Growth 1 week
Growth 1 Week
Aggressive Growth 2 Weeks
Transition 1 Week
Bloom 2 weeks
Aggressive Bloom 2 Weeks
Ripen 1 week (I have heard to switch back to a metal halite for potency for the last week too. I did it not sure if it worked or not. I gonna leave the HPS in until the end this time to see if there is a difference.)
