Grow Mediums The Cave Toad Grow

Did a little checking and I think my lights are just a bit too close, looks like there is some "Tacoing" going on. I will pick up another fan or two to add as well. I think the leaves are getting just a bit too hot.

How's your RH? Low humidity can also contribute to the leaves curling up along the edges.

RH is lower than I would like, bouncing around a lot but averaging 40-45% but have seen as low as 30%. The problem is with the air I am pulling though I don't know if adding a humidifier would even do any good. I'm using my daytime heating to set my fan speed and a temperature switch to shut off the fan when I cool at night, would adding humidity at night only make much difference?

Day 22 and the girls are doing very nicely. Some of the smaller ones are starting to catch-up with the addition of the second light. Can certainly tell when the roots hit the water. I am thinking that in one more week I will switch them to Bloom nutrients and then mid next week add the bloom light but not sure yet, I want to see how far the smaller girls get first. Fighting a harvest deadline due to some travel plans so every day I can save is better but want to do everything I can to get the crop the best possible too. Note to self, start earlier on a winter grow because spring always comes sooner than you think. :)

And also take into consideration that DWC can take a bit longer than soil sometimes too...otherwise looking good man.

No, it's important for both lights on and off. When the humidity is low the moisture in the leaves is sucked out by the dry air, causing the tips and edges of the leaves to dry out and curl up. 45% would do for late flower but for veg and stretch 55 - 65% is best,

Keep them on veg nutes until vertical growth slows and stops. Even though they get small buds they are still in the growth phase and need the nitrogen. The buds won't really start to fatten up until after the veg growth stops. The plant shifts it's energies from making leaves and stems into fattening up the flowers. That's when you give them the bloom nutes with the higher P and K values they need for good bud growth. Add the bloom light right before or when you switch nutes. My Kind LEDs have adjustable spectrums. I lower the red by 30% in veg, upping it back to 100% when stretch is over. Red light produces more elongated stems. Watch your nod spacing and if you think it's a little too tight, add the bloom light in. If your nod spacing is good, around 1/2 or so, leave off till it's time to fatten em up.

Up to day 24 now and things are looking good. Today was fairly warm so temps went a bit higher than I would like, around 83 Deg, so I had to add a little extra air into the the grow space. Still figuring out some water issues but nothing that appears to be putting things at risk. Had the first close call with a neighbor showing up while the tent was wide open but covered it well and no harm done, he's a smoker so probably no issue but trying to be sure to keep the security in place no matter who it is. [HASHTAG]#3[/HASHTAG] is still just not moving along well but I have plenty of room so far so no worries about getting rid of her. Who know she could rally and be a hell of a producer. Otherwise they are all really taking off and loving life. I am a little conflicted on the change over to bloom because I will be away for 6-7 days next week and I thin k they are going to be ready in that time. I now thinking of just leaving them be until I get back but that will be almost a week over schedule and I am under a nasty time crunch to finish them. I will give it a few more days to see what happens with them and see. I will take some pics with a light filter in place soon to really show what they look like.

If you're on day 24 you've got at least 2 1/2, probably 3 weeks before you need to switch to bloom nutes. Vertical growth won't stop until around that time.

Actually got off a day so today is Day 25. These are only a 75 day seed so I was thinking 4-5 weeks for veg? Might be wrong on that I was going off info from some Auto growing sites. PPM is up so I am going to do a water change this evening to replace at least 1/2 of the water depending upon how much I can get collected by then. No matter how much it is I am sure it will be good for them.

Here are pics from this AM. A few of them are looking a bit stressed but growth is still good.
