Grow Mediums The Cave Toad Grow

Thanks Muddy, I have been trying to keep them cooler so letting the temp rise a bit will be easy  I had to struggle today to hold them down to 79 with the weather starting to warm up a bit. And no, no co2 as of yet. Trying to make sure I have a decent handle on the basics before I get any more creative than I have. I actually looked at it but to either build or buy the controller was just more than I wanted to bite off. Funny thing is I have the large industrial gas cylinders for it already.

The standard information out there that says 76-78 max is based on HPS lighting. With the heat they give out they raise the leaf temperature too high if temps are higher. With LEDs the leaf temps are cooler, so you can run higher room temps. co2 is absorbed best around 84 - 85 with LEDs. I run a propane burner and do see a difference with co2. I wouldn't say it's the 30% + that some claim but more than enough to pay for the cost of the propane.

Your plants look great!

Well here we are at day 56. The girls are doing amazingly well. Nutrients are dropping very nicely and they are drinking a little over a gallon each per day. I took a bunch of close-ups today to give you an idea of how they are progressing so you can see for yourselves but for a first grow I couldn't be happier at this point.

Things are still moving along very nicely, both water and nutrient uptake are good. Having a bit of a cold spell so the tent temps are having a hard time coming back up today but getting there. Thought I would grab a few more real color pics today. As you can see it the one I need to keep moving lights around, burnt one top a bit but I think it will come back.

Thanks @sanguine it got off to a bit of a rough start. I follows the manufactures recommendations on nutrients, and messed up a bit on my own, and hurt them pretty bad for a while but with some help here got things back on track and learned a ton. I can't wait to see where they go in the next few weeks.Just a complete swag but I am guessing they have 3-4 weeks left. Microscope will be here this week so I can start getting a good look at the trichomes to see. I got a digital so I will be able to post some pics too. I am going to be gone for another short week so they will get fed tonight or in the AM and water as they need while I'm gone. Will probably do a water change next weekend when I get back to help manage the ph and keep things clean. That will probably be the last one until I flush them at the end unless something weird happens.

It has been a while since my last update so I thought I would let everyone know how things are going. The best word I can use is GREAT! The girls are still drinking like crazy and pushing the boundaries of my tent. It is going to be a real race to see if they finish first or I run out of room. Current average is still about a gallon per girl per day so very happy with that and have a few cholas, sorry if I spelled it incorrectly, that are about the same diameter as a soda can and nearly twice and tall. I thought today would be a great day to play with a new toy so for those that love trichome porn here you go. Taken today, Day Number 64.

Up to Day 66 now. Only real challenge I'm having at this point, I NEED A TALLER TENT! These girls have gotten huge on me almost over night it seems. I have kept my lights just as close as I dare to try to hold them back and no matter what they just want to keep going. The awesome thing is that the new growth is covered with flowers. :cools: I am a bit worried that they are not going to finish even close to one another however, how bad is it if I don't get a flush on some because they are just needing to come down and others aren't ready? If I dry really softly, say hold about 55-60% RH instead of 50% would that help prevent harshness? It just looks like there is about a three week spread in age right now. Have a look and let me know your thoughts and experiences.

@Sensi Jay My thoughts as well. Main concern is that the less advanced ones need more like 4 weeks more so not sure what to do about flushing? Cut down the more advanced in say 2 weeks without a flush and then flush the rest at one time or forgo flushing all together and try to do a slow dry and cure. First time out so a lot of learning going on as to what I can get away with now that I basically have plants of 2 ages from some locking out for a bit and others not.
